Wow . . what a turn about of events. I can only hope that this is the rightful owners/family of this little guy. Keeping my fingers crossed !! |
I'm not so sure I would PM my phone number to someone who hasn't contacted me through email or PM first. I personally don't like giving out my phone number to craigslist contacts unless we are going to meet - seems like the rest can be done via email or the person can give her his/her number. They have the ability to get ahold of her here - everyone has told him/her how and they could reply again to this thread and pm - so I would wait at this point - for this person to contact her now that she's told them where the puppy was found... If you want to put a phone number up on CL, you could set up a google voice phone number to your cell phone so you don't have to give out your personal number. It's quick, easy, and you can turn it off when you are done and don't have to answer it if you don't want to....you'll know if someone's calling from it because it will announce it as google voice. Boy, that little guy sure is cute. My Ricky was a runaway and the rescue I got him from tried to catch him for a long time. Finally they had to live trap him...and why he wouldn't come to anyone, I don't know, because this dog loves everyone. He was 2 1/2 lbs when they picked him up. There was a family who had reported a yorkie missing right around the same time the rescue started seeing Ricky running around, so they contacted the family. They had already gotten another puppy because it had been so long since he went missing(1-2 months), but they said "yep, that's my dog" and took him home...and then a week later, they called the rescue back and said "nevermind, that's not my dog" and they took him back to the rescue. I am pretty sure it was their dog. You don't take a dog home for a week and THEN figure out it's not your dog...He was gone for a few months, but not long enough for someone to forget what their dog looked like. It's ok though...because now he's with me. Anyways....I guess in my ramblings, what I am trying to say is....maybe this little guy has been missing for a while and maybe the owners were trying to look for him at first and then gave up because it had been so long and they assumed he was found by someone else or dead. I have no idea how my little dog(who's now just barely 4 lbs) survived on the streets for 1-2 months in Michigan in the winter...but he did!! I am glad that you're looking for his owners, but you're also willing to let him stay if you don't find them!! Either way, he's one lucky little guy to have survived his ordeal out on the streets!! |
I agree with the theporkieyorie. One thing people do when they find a lost dog is assume things because they are skinny or look dirty, etc. Anyone could have put a collar on him. Ask for a picture. If it was their dog most people would have a picture lying around of him. That's a sure way of knowing. But I am sure someone is missing him. |
Update Well, the little guy is doing fine. Havent found the owners yet. As for me posting my number on CL, No way! There are too many nuts, fruits or whatever you want to call them out in this world.....The person that asked where it was found can get back on here to pm me and I will respond. My vet even called to ask how he was doing and to let me know he hasn't heard any news either. For now he is safe and taken care of. I trimmed his nails cause they were soooooo overgrown that they were coming back up on themselves into his pads....:animal36 |
Please continue your search and I hope his family will do the same. The fact that he is safe and being well taken care of is wonderful and so very important. It will be a blessed day for all involved if and when this little fella can be reunited with his family!! |
Did you happen to get a chance to look at the pictures on the link to craigslist I posted earlier. There are some who really resemble this little guy. As for craigslist if you post there that you found one they (craigslist) will send you emails from those responding. They don't even list your email, it goes through them only. Looking at the pictures you can tell he is loved by someone just by the grooming. As far as nails go, people would think I abuse Kyra if they saw hers at times but hers bleed even when clipped a little long so I don't clip them nearly as short as I do Laddy's. |
Hopefully you are able to locate his owners. |

Glad to hear he is doing good. |
I was wondering this also. One of the first things we did when the little girl yorkie who was lost was brought to us was make a post on craigslist. Most people know these little ones well enough to tell you something unique to identify them by. Like Laddy has a little nick in his left ear etc. Yes it is the owners responsibility to find them, but I put myself in that persons shoes and know how my heart would be breaking in two always wondering if they were ok or not. |
OP - Thank you for taking such good care of this little one. As long as you are still looking for the owner, that's all you can do. I think it may help to post on craigslist about finding one but don't put your number on there. You are right about that. I recently learned that from posting an ad for my plumbing business. I get some pretty X rated texts. People have no life. But, as mentioned, someone could email you thru a link on craigslist. What I would do, so your email doesn't get over run, is set up a special email account just for that purpose. :) |
I just hope for the very best outcome, if that is reuniting owner and pup, great, if it means he stays with the person that found him that's great too. I really believe that what ever happens, will happen for a reason. This little guy will have a very joyous life either way. |
