What a cutie! I'd inform the local humane society and maybe leave a poster there, but no way would I drop him off there. I found a cat in the countryside once and took it to the humane society, telling them that I wanted to adopt the cat if the owner was not found. They told me to come back the following Monday and when I did, they said they had put the cat to sleep already . Not all humane societies are the same, but I don't take any chances any more. |
No I wouldn't leave him with anyone but his owner and they will have to identify the collar he has on. It is a somewhat unique collar so only the true owner will know what it is. He is a cutie and he is small too. |
He's such a little cutie, he would definitely be missed by anyone who cares about him. Plus if it were anyone who has small children, they would surely be missing him terribly. I know we would be. I don't know how much one would cost but surely an ad in your local news paper would be worth the cost what ever it would be to see this little fella be reunited with his family !!!! :) |
He is such a cutie |
I really do believe he belongs to and is being missed by someone. I would certainly put an ad in the local papers in the area...go to every vet and groomers office with a flier, pet supply stores, shelters, humane society, police departments even schools. Any way you can get the information out there. Good luck and thanks again for being his angel on earth. |
He is very cute, I hope you keep looking for an owner, you never know what may have happened. My friend lost a dog and a neighbor down the road found it and kept it for a week without realizing it had an owner. The dog looked horrible when it was found just from not eating and running through thicket bushes for just two days. Small dogs can get dehydrated and loose weight very quickly. When the owner had a week of no rest and stress while the person that found it fell in love with the dog. In the end the owner got the dog back but it was hard on both parties. |

I was looking at the craigslist ads for your area, what was the intersection/street you found him on? There are so many Yorkies missing out your way it amazes me. Have you been scanning those ads as well? |
It sounds to me like this little guy has an owner. Please continue to look. Who knows, there was a story of a yorkie who was let out by the hotel cleaning staff and he lived on his own for several weeks and was a complete mess by the time he was caught. You never know the circumstances, so please don't think he isn't loved. |
There are several yorkies listed on fort hoods craigslist as missing. Have you checked? |
There are several websites that can help owners or those that find pets recover them. Here's just a few I found in the Lampasas area: Lost My Doggie - Lost Dogs Near LAMPASAS, TX Lost Dogs in Texas - Fido Finder Also, I wanted to mention that MANY of the rescue organizations will post an ad on their Pages...all you have to do is ask. Here's the list of rescues etc that I found: Texas Rescue Shelters and Organizations ( I just cannot get the image of someone missing their pup from my head! OP, we're trying to help you find his owners. :) ) |

Redwolf, thank you for taking such good care of this baby and continuing to look for the owner. I have horrible fears of leaving Huey with someone, so I take him with me when I go out of town, but what if the owner was out of town or in the hospital or something for an extended time and doesn't yet know the person they trusted with their baby has lost him? Could you imagine???? I'm sure you are already in love, but I would continue to actively look for an owner and even after you feel like the search has been complete, still keep your eyes open in case they were out of the country for several months or something like that. :D |
Please dont assume because the dog is timid its been abused. my Jewels will back up when you approach her shes timid and always has been, Also sometimes her hair and nails are too long if shes over due for a groom. Just dont assume owner neglect or abuse. Someone may be heartbroken because of the disapearance of this dog |
still looking I am still looking and wont give up on finding his owner. And yes I can imagine his owner could be missing him dearly! I know I would miss any of my furbutts if they got out. That is why I am still looking and will continue until I am sure that I have done what I can to find his owner. Even after that I will still search to an extent to find them. But until then he is safe and cared for and out of harm and weather. He seems to be doing fine, he is eating, drinking and going potty without any issues so far. Thank you all for the encouragement and help. You all are awesome.....Even when my Sassy was sick and had to be euthanized to end her suffering, knowing that you all prayed for us and comforted me was a blessing.:D |
I am so glad this sweet baby has you right now!!!! |
