The whole thing is very scary for those of us who have lost a dog and for those of us who know the terror of it....My Lacey ended up 23 miles away.......I would never have found her had it not been for YT and people telling me that she could have gotten a lot further than she was....turned out a cop picked her up and took her to the SPCA near his house.......anyway....the pup could have ended up far away from home, away from flyers and CL ads....I'm glad that at the very least, he is being taken care of!

It sounds like you've gone above and beyond the call of duty to help find the Yorkie's owner. The burden is on the person who lost or abandonded the dog to come forward and claim him. If Yorkietalk becomes too "intense," don't be afraid to step away for a while for peace of mind. You have a right not to answer questions or private messages. And to echo other advise that has been given here, don't give your phone number or other contact information out to anonymous strangers. Good luck!

To the OP have you ever had a dog lost or stolen? All I am asking is that you put yourself in the shoes of the people he belongs to and ask yourself, am I doing everything I would want someone else to do to find them if mine were lost. I honestly don't know what all you have done other than go back with a picture and check him for a chip but I know there are many things that could help him be reunited with his family. I am not judging you and I am not judging his true owner by what you are discribing as his appearance. They may be an older couple who loves this little guy like a child and do all they know to do for him. None of us really know do we?

These are my thoughts exactly, do put ads in the local papers in areas around where he was found, at least a 30 mile radius. Think like the owners would think. Put fliers up where ever you would look if it were your lost dog. Every vet, groomer, pet supply, shelter and humane society should know you have a lost dog and are actively looking for the owner. In the mean time, thank you for caring for this little guy, that means a lot. Hope this has a happy ending, I love happy endings!!!

Just an observation - OP has or is:

1. Put up fliers
2. Canvased neighborhood
3. Put notices at vets
4. Checked for microchip and tattoo
5. Checking Craigslist multiple times
6. Posted a photo here (and maybe other places for all we know?)
7. Been posting updates here
8. Said she would not give up - and that she wouldn't judge based upon appearance of the pup
9. Willing to love and take care of pup until owners could be found and identify and if not found

Are there other things she could do? Perhaps or maybe she has already done them. Maybe she's already put an ad in the paper or being checking the paper; or maybe she's already notified shelters and other vets.

I really hope we don't start getting critical here.

nanahas3 09-19-2013 05:37 PM

I don't think anyone is trying to be critical here. We are just very concerned about this little guy and also the people who are missing him. Yes I am glad he is being taken care of . What made me concerned was the comment in one of the first posts that they hoped there was no chip because they thought he was abused. I am sorry if this gave me the wrong impression but I felt like it may mean they would not be trying that hard if he was not chipped to find his true owners. I hope I am wrong, I sincerely do and that the OP is doing all in her power to help reunite this little guy with a loving family. I do not know the OP all I can go by is what is posted here.

Just so you know I was not the person that said that hoped there was no chip!!!! And I do know how it feels to lose a loved pet! I am doing what I need to try to find owners, and hopefully they are looking too:mad:

well, he and my male yorkie are starting to get along a little better, and no accidents in the house overnight! Yay! he seems to be housebroke..He is definitely a feisty little guy and a very affectionate one too! I honestly don't think he received much attention and I think he may have been abused cause when I go to pick him up he shys away! poor guy. we are going to have the vet scan him for a chip this morning. I hope he don't have a chip because whoever did have him probably didn't take care of him. I will post some pics later of him

This is you isn't it?

redwolf41 09-19-2013 06:42 PM

wow

Ok maybe I did state that, but I cant remember every thing that I say. Can you? Can you remember every single thing you have said or typed....If you can, then you must be pretty near perfect or a genius! I know nobody but God was perfect. As for a genius who knows....:animal36

Redwolf, thank you for taking such good care of this baby and continuing to look for the owner. I have horrible fears of leaving Huey with someone, so I take him with me when I go out of town, but what if the owner was out of town or in the hospital or something for an extended time and doesn't yet know the person they trusted with their baby has lost him? Could you imagine???? I'm sure you are already in love, but I would continue to actively look for an owner and even after you feel like the search has been complete, still keep your eyes open in case they were out of the country for several months or something like that. :D

My sons girlfriend stayed in our home to watch our pups many years ago. One of my babies was terrified by thunder & bolted. My sons GF (ex now). Decided not to tell us because she didn't want to ruin our trip! It was two weeks of agony before a teenager saw our ad & brought her home to us. The sweet kid had found her and was feeding her in her fenced in yard. My poor baby was a mess from spending 2 weeks outside! Now my guys always travel with me if a family member can't be home.

my parents were watching my sisters yorkie, while she was in the Cayman Islands and it escaped through a small gap in a fence, they did the same thing, they did not tell her, not wanting to ruin their vacation. I still for the life of me can not understand why they did not call her or me. Since that episode anyone that takes care of Lola knows that I don't care about my vacation if Lola goes missing you call me immediately. You are so lucky to have found her after two weeks. It's odd how some people immediately think oh I don't want to ruin someone's vacation, really like a vacation is more important than my dog, so I guess it's something that you have to make people understand before you leave your pup.
