| ![]() Your furbabies are so adorable!! I had no trouble at all housebreaking my first 2 yorkies but Abby........oh boy she's quite a different story. She just turned 5 August 12th and I really have to keep my eye on her because her way of telling me that she has to potty is by running in the house very fast. So when she starts running like a "mad little girl" and looks at me as she's running, I know she has to go outside. If I don't see her, she can't hold it and just goes ![]()

| ![]() Both of your fur babies are very cute!! I know you love them both. My little girl, Remy, LOVES my dh. The boys dogs LOVE me, stuck like glue lol. We both feed, play, walk etc. I do the not so fun stuff like grooming etc. I just think girls love their daddy's... or maybe it is just different personalities love different "parents" I think smaller dogs are harder to train. Like someone else said they have smaller bladders and just can't hold it too long. I also think a crate or playpen is good, very young puppies can get hurt if they have free run of the house--hard to watch every second. Good luck

| ![]() Hi not sure if I reply in the right box. Candy was pottytrained at 6 weeks although yorkys must stay with there mommy until 8weeks or older not sure anyway only at night would u wake up with a wet mark on the sheet and always on hubbys side LOL. Till she was 3 months old. She is a mommys baby. Gizmo loves Dadda but if he wants something special will ask mommy first. Yorkys are just like kids. Still learning the page: |

| ![]() She is really cute. She looks a lot like our Zoe who is also a shorkie. In our case Zoe was much easier to potty train than Zach (our yorkie). We knew we were purchasing a shorkie though. Our dogs love my house mate and me equally, although I think she likes my friend a little bit better because she spoils her badly. As long as you love her that's all that counts. I don't know how much you paid for YoYo but we paid $1300 for Zoe. Zach was only $900. |

| ![]() I'm glad that you are going to keep her no matter what. I do think she could be a mix, but dna is really the only way you will know for sure.

| ![]() You could try an xpen or a puppy pen, have a pee pad in one corner & bed/food/toys in the other, that way you dont feel like your trapping the puppy in a small cage ![]() I also ordered a dna test off amazon for mixed breed dogs for my shihtzu/pom mix and his family tree confirmed he was 50/50 shihtzu/pomeranian. It was really helpful and definately helped me learn more about him and link his behaviors to his breeds. |

I have the same setup for Gizmo. With his xpen, he's got his bedroom at one end, a good sized amount of space in the middle with one side his kitchen and the other wall as his playroom (that's of course when he decides to move hs toys out of the bedroom lol) and at the other end he has his potty pad holder with pad aka his bathroom :-) . There are no dividers, he has just established the areas himself by telling me where he wants things lol. Instead of putting it in the octagon shape, I actually arranged the panels in a rectangle because he just loves to run super fast and with it longer, it gives him the opportunity to run if its in the middle of the night or something. We try to keep him out quite often and also have a potty pad holder outside with toys, food and all :-) he's just a spoiled little boy right now, but he's also super smart, so we don't feel bad hahaha. We are adjusting his time out longer and longer every day, so we can eventually just leave the door open all the time and he will still go potty there hopefully. He's had 3 accidents in 3 weeks, so I think he's doing well so far for only 11 wks old :-) | |

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() I have a six year old boy who was easy to potty train, teach tricks, is a lap dog, gives kisses, everything I ever wanted in a pup. Then I wanted a girl so bad. She's one and a half almost, is a little devil. She was hard to potty train, won't come when called, loves her daddy, hates me. Won't kiss me or cuddle, but will for daddy. Oh ya, did I mention ate her poop for the first six months! Just a little terrer. But I'm the bad guy, I do baths, brushing, meds, teeth brushing, put clothes, put hair up. So she runsvfrom me. But I love her to death!!!! My stubborn little diva!

| ![]() She is definitely not a purebred yorkie but she is really adorable. I saw the +kota blanket by the way and I would like to ask if that is where you got her because they are very well known for selling a bunch of puppies that are not proven to be purebred but they tell people they are. I was stuck on a similar case one time when I was first looking to buy a yorkie this guy was selling me one for $800 and it looked just like yours and when I asked to see the parents sure enough the mother was a yorkie but the father was a terrier mix. So I ended having to pay more than $1,000 for duque but from a real reputable breeder. As to the potty training it's rare to find a yorkie that is fully potty trained fast because my yorkie is 100% purebred and he was so hard to potty train he has been the hardest from the 3 dogs I have but we finally got through that and he eventually learned. Some are just hard headed but you just have to have patience. ![]() Last edited by Mgmena; 09-02-2013 at 10:15 PM. |

| ![]() Ironically, I was at the pet store in the mall and they had a snorkie puppy today and your cute little doll sure does look like the little snorkie I played with today( I feel so bad for the pet store dogs that I always stop by and ask to see a few dogs so they get to come out and play for a minute ![]() Anyways...whatever your pup is...she sure is adorable. The problems you are having sound like they could be her yorkie part as much as anything else. Yorkies are notoriously hard to potty train. I read somewhere that they are in the top 5 for hardest dogs to potty train!! It's also not uncommon for them to bond with one person only. They are very loyal to their masters. My older male is attached at my hip and only has eyes for me!! My younger male loves everyone. As far as destroying things...well, that can be any puppy. She could be bored...she could be teething!! Can I ask...do you feed the puppy or does your partner?? One way you may be able to strengthen the bond with the puppy is to be the "bringer of all good things." Meaning if you are the one handing her the food...and taking her out...and basically being her caretaker and providing for all of her needs, she may see you on the same level she sees your S.O. It definitely helped a little when my SO started feeding "my" dog. It didn't totally solve the problem because Princeton still is more attached to me, but it did strengthen their bond a lot and it minimized some of the problems the pup was having with my SO. For instance, he would bark and growl every time my SO got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom...and he wouldn't let my SO back in bed. Now, he only barks once and a while, and if my SO tells him to hush, he does stop barking and he can get in bed. Last edited by theporkieyorkie; 09-03-2013 at 02:38 PM. |

| ![]() Dear Garf and any other new or prospective YORKIE buyers, I guess I was just lucky that when I got my Yorkie pup that I already KNEW the woman who raised these Yorkshire Terriors in her home in the city. It is important to know where your pup comes from and what the pup's parents are like!Over the years, Janie had learned how to help her females deliver their tiny puppies, she also gave them their puppy shots (as a licensed breeder, she can buy medications), and she had a good vet in town that she took her puppies too for their ears & tails. One of her old females had won an overall State title for best female (bitch) in the Yorkshire Terrior Breed championship, and Janie proudly has the color picture of this dog framed & displayed on one corner of her living room desk along with her dog's blue ribbon. She is the great, great, great, grandmother of my Taffy's mother. Taffy was gold & black as a puppy, but when he got closer to 13 weeks old, Janie showed me "white hairs" starting to grow under the black hair on top of his head. She said this color change was called "breaking" by breeders, and that hopefully, he would have "blonde hair" grow out on his whole head as he got older, just like his mother. That is what did happened! By 3 years old, Taffy now has a silver/grey body and blonde hair on his legs and whole head. Now, his own brother stayed all black & gold like their father, and he is much smaller than Taffy; he is a lady's pet in a nearby town. Nobody wanted to buy Taffy as he was twice the size of his brother, and much bigger than the 2 females of the other litter! Then, as he got @ 11 wks old, Janie sadly showed me that Taffy had a slight "underbite" which ruined him for showing or breeding quality. Well, he was STILL my favorite of the 4 since he really liked humans, and he followed me whenever I visited and would curl up on my lap after playing. At 14 weeks old, the other 3 smaller pups were all taken home by their new owners. I was playing with Taffy the next week while Janie and I had some coffee. She said that Taffy always preferred me, and she wanted me to have him if I could pay her $100.00 to offset his vet fees..she wasn't making any $ on his sale. I was thrilled! Taffy stopped growing at 5 pounds by winter. He has had obedience classes to learn the basics. He is the best little fellow and loves people! Janie says she has sold 4 other puppies over the years because people loved Taffy's temperament and asked where I had bought him. I would always visit the dog breeder before buying a puppy...you may even find that the pup picks you!! |
