| I just did a search on Veterinary Nutritionists on staff and found this very good article. Once again my point is....money talks. Veterinary Nutritionists Endorse Grain-Based Dog Food What did dogs eat before commercial dog food came about? I'm pretty sure they didn't eat grain and corn. We have the big Canadian Wolves around here and I guarantee you they are not raiding the farmers grain fields, they are killing big game, sheep, cows, etc. Dogs and cats are both carnivores, not omnivores or herbivores. There is a reason they have no flat teeth like humans, they are strictly meateaters. I don't want to argue, just stating some well know facts I learned in science. |

| I was wondering how long it would take for the news to circulate. Figured we would have some upset members, so I kept my mouth shut. Hopefully they will use some of their food profit to help the rescue pups.

| OK...for a bit of my sick humor.... Who knew that to find the right dog food, all you had to do was check the poops? I knew their had to be a reason why people are so focused on them.

| Maybe that's why Callie runs so fast from it, it keeps telling her what to eat

I hope so too!! I can tell you the dog I helped adopt from the Michigan Humane Society came home eating Purina One. I am assuming that Purina donates it to them!! I wasn't happy to hear the Nestle bought Petfinder either...it's just one more thing owned by Corporate America Last edited by theporkieyorkie; 08-22-2013 at 10:41 AM. | |

YT 2000 Club Member | dog Dog gone dog food ! What to feed concerns me too. We all want to feed the top food to our precious dogs. I have been feeding mine Blue Buffalo. Now they seem to dislike that taste of food. Now what? Spud was sick and was on the Science Diet I.D. Now he wants that over the B.B. So many choices of foods. Years ago we just fed them and never worried. What do Yorkies like to eat? Mine are picky eaters. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I feel conflicted about this. It's often not a good thing when any giant Food/Ag company gobbles up someone else. I would've preferred Petfinder wasn't a subsidiary of a dog food company. But, we shall see.

I think people often don't understand that Science Diet and Purina ALSO have RX Foods for medical issues. These foods are completely different that the regular food that most people are complaining about. So just keep that in mind.

| Dog food opinions aside...maybe Purina will use its vast resources to help these animals in need of a good home. Even if they're doing it for publicity/image, at least something good will come out of it. We'll see. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

| There is NOTHING wrong with their RX Food. For some issues I perfer the RX Purina over the Science Diet RX.
