| Did she really do that??? I was sitting on the floor going through some of my old makeup samples and I took my glasses off so I could read the little tiny print. Well, Piper decided to snatch them without me seeing her and proceeded to chew on them!! Ugh...she made deep huge gouges in one of my lenses!! I told her no in a very firm voice and she just looked at me like...what??? She has been a little more clingy today than she normally is so I'm not sure what's up with her. She went to the vet yesterday for the first time since I have had her (definitely not going back to this one!) and was told that her teeth are terrible and that she has a few retained baby teeth. Could this be the reason that she is chewing so much? Is it necessary that the baby teeth be pulled and how do I go about improving her dental health? She is the little rescue yorkie that I got and I have had her for about a month now. Another quick question...The breeder that I got her from said to feed her a normal sized kibble for her teeth but I got some new food yesterday and she is having a really hard time chewing it. Should I go to a smaller kibble or just find one that is not quite so hard? |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | How old is Piper? I can't count the number of items I lost during while my pups were teething (including electrical cords, dry wall, my rocking chair, shoes....) Yes, the retained teeth need to come out to allow the adult teeth to come in properly and prevent tooth decay. If she hasn't been spayed yet, it can be done at the same time so she only has to go under anesthesia once. If you just got her, I wouldn't switch her kibble yet. I would try moistening it with water to soften it a bit t see if that helps, then slowly transition her to something else.

The vet has said that we needed to start transitioning her to a new food due to some colitis issues. We have her on the Artemis kibble and Nutro Natural Choice Limited Ingredient canned. She seems to be doing very well on them and her diarrhea issues have subsided today. She will be scheduled for a spay after her 3 week vaccination booster shots in September. | |

| List of things chewed includes: Remotes, various chargers, glasses, shoes, and the list goes on and on.. LOL Most items were sacrificed while they were teething. But there were few times when they knew they're shouldn't but they do anyway. LOL Does she have a lot of chew toys? The baby teeth would need to come out as food and whatever else may get stuck in between and cause issues later on. In the meantime, if you're not brushing her teeth, get some mouth wash type. I use a syringe to put into their mouths as they absolutely hate things being sprayed... Have you found a vet you like? Maybe you should discuss the food issue with the vet? |

| Dry kibble does nothing to keep teeth clean. Toothbrushes do. Yorkie Rules: If it's on the floor, it's mine!
