How old is Piper? I can't count the number of items I lost during while my pups were teething (including electrical cords, dry wall, my rocking chair, shoes....)

Yes, the retained teeth need to come out to allow the adult teeth to come in properly and prevent tooth decay. If she hasn't been spayed yet, it can be done at the same time so she only has to go under anesthesia once.

If you just got her, I wouldn't switch her kibble yet. I would try moistening it with water to soften it a bit t see if that helps, then slowly transition her to something else.
