| ![]() First ... Im my humble opinion.. your beautiful little Miley is not a teacup nor is he smaller then average. He would fall in the standards.. Second... yes .. we (even more so us women) are genetically drawn to the little helpless cutties. I hear all the time, oh how I wish my dog would stay like he/she was as a puppy. Then you add the fashion crazy of purse dogs. (I sell dog carriers... and have several so I not putting it down totally) .. If the yorkies are naturally very tiny and HEALTHY so be it--even the best breeders have runts. What teacup means to me is a greeder breading a poor tiny to get unhealthy pups. They almost alway have healthy issues if they are too small. Then they use the "marketing term" of teacup to get the person who cares more for the size then the health.

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() So, I have a question......What is it about a "teacup" that people don't like....the name or the size....or both? I love all yorkies no matter the size or the name, Teapot!

| ![]() The term Teacup gets people going... LOL! For all the above reasons. Just asking about it seems to get a ton of posts. We all love our yorkies... big, little and just right sized.

Oh boy this seems to be such an emotionally charged issue, that I am not sure exactly what to say. Please don't feel that your pup and you as a person are being judged as being bad. Well at least I don't think or feel that. How-ever, ideally the breed as per our Standards should be bred ideally to produce pups as adults that grow to let us say 5 to 7 lb range, and as the YTCA has stated no female under 5lbs should be bred. Why is that do you think? No female under 5lbs should be bred? The serious risk to her life? Certainly not justified by trying to breed dogs that will produce dogs under 5lbs. They the YTCA put out this recommendation for very valid reasons.

| ![]() I chose to protect my breeder from being bullied. I know what she is made of and the dogs she has behind her name and quite frankly that's none of your business. ALL you are wanting to do is tare apart her name and I'm not going to let that happen. So please.

| ![]() Just throwing this out there... Since people here came up with the term "teapot" as an endearing term, why can't we do the same for smaller sized Yorkies? Since "teacup" has been sullied by bad people (you can question it all you want..it has been done, so nothing you can do to change that), why not come up with a NEW term for our beloved smaller Yorkies? How about "The Wee York Club"? or the "Tadpole Club"? or.... you see what I'm going for. Make up an endearing term as a community...start THAT club for our beloved underachieving in size babies...and go with it. ![]() ETA: 4.5 lbs is normal healthy weight for a Yorkie, btw ![]()
