Its not but calling that dog a teacup to an educated person and to someone who got there yorkie from a reputable breeder is like calling a white person a cracker or a black person the n word and so on. No reputable breeder wants there small dogs refereed to as teacups.

I actually only own one yorkie and she weighs 6 lbs. I adore her. I also have 6 Chihuahua's and they suffer the same idiocy of the Yorkie. People will pay mucho $$ just to get a runt that will never weigh over 3 lbs and the less the better as far as they are concerned. I actually own a runt chihuahua that weighs around 2 1/2 lbs. I did not pay for her but she was given to me by the breeder because she knew she might have a tough life and since I purchased her big brother (pet quality) she gave me the little girl. My runt is now almost 8 years old but she has been raised in an all adult household. She does have issues that we deal with and I know she is not comfortable sometimes. She has breathing issues and hip issues. She can't jump up on furniture like everyone else but she has the heart of a lion. I truly feel that if she had gone to someone who just wanted to show her off or family with kids she would have been dead long ago.
Anyway like I said, most of us get irritable with TEA CUP mainly because when that word is used people are proud that have have acquired one without realizing they are perpetuating an injustice to the pet. People who end up with Tea POTS generally don't know it until much later.

Okay and that's a very fair statement. While I was at petsmart the other day I saw a yorkie who was 16 lbs. He was the most beautiful and most active thing ever. It sucks to know that they aren't considered standard just because of how much they weigh. He wasn't "chubby" at all. Very tall and skinny.

The yorkie started out bigger then it is now maybe you should check out the history not sure what your trying to say...... Teacup will never be an acceptable word so why all arguing about it?

Hahaha I'll get my 40lber one day...maybe hahaha. And yes that's all I'm saying is educate them. Why do we have to investigate everything as if we are the FBI and make people feel belittled by their decisions? It's not necessary!

Okay but if they aren't wanting our opinions then who are we to force them onto them? Someone came on here saying they wanted a yorkie that was 4lbs or less...then the FBI investigation came about. Even after educating some may still want a "teacup" and that's their prerogative.

Many of us have gotten our yorkies from bad breeders/puppy mills so we want to warm other people of the heartbreak that getting a dog from a bad breeder can cause. We also want people to stop buying from bad breeders/puppy mills so they stop making money and have to shut down. We HAVE to be be the voice for those who can not speak.

If they do to a breeder that sells teacups they are going to get a sick dog and support a breeder who is doing damage to the breed and that is not ok.

Okay but just like teacup will forever be a shunned word bad breeders and puppy mills will forever be alive...it is not common knowledge what is going on and unless people google search it (which a lot don't) they will never know.

75% of yorkies are purse puppies! That's where we can educate about what to look for in a breeder. And point out the online tiny breeders for what they are. Just discussing this topic is a good way to educate others.

BTW, whats a rater? The ones that kill rodents like yorkies were bred to do?
