| ![]() Maybe didn't see that but under the standards where is lists everything like coat and stuff it says weight not to exceed 7 pounds.

| ![]() The point is dogs over 7 pounds are not standard so they are not considered standard.

| ![]() I guess the way I look at it is this. Most of us get a little cranky with the words TEA CUP because many uninformed buyers actually think there is a TEA CUP Yorkie that is separate from Standard Yorkie and there isn't. I think we get miffed when people feel compelled to tell us how much their dog doesn't weigh because these owners usually see it as a badge of honor some how and it isn't. These dogs were made that small for profit and its done without caring if the tiny outcome suffers throughout life. The term teapot is more of an endearment for those pups that end up too chubby to fit into standard, and is generally never taken as bragging. Its more or less just fessing up that our dog doesn't fit the standard. I actually only own one yorkie and she weighs 6 lbs. I adore her. I also have 6 Chihuahua's and they suffer the same idiocy of the Yorkie. People will pay mucho $$ just to get a runt that will never weigh over 3 lbs and the less the better as far as they are concerned. I actually own a runt chihuahua that weighs around 2 1/2 lbs. I did not pay for her but she was given to me by the breeder because she knew she might have a tough life and since I purchased her big brother (pet quality) she gave me the little girl. My runt is now almost 8 years old but she has been raised in an all adult household. She does have issues that we deal with and I know she is not comfortable sometimes. She has breathing issues and hip issues. She can't jump up on furniture like everyone else but she has the heart of a lion. I truly feel that if she had gone to someone who just wanted to show her off or family with kids she would have been dead long ago. Anyway like I said, most of us get irritable with TEA CUP mainly because when that word is used people are proud that have have acquired one without realizing they are perpetuating an injustice to the pet. People who end up with Tea POTS generally don't know it until much later.

| ![]() but my point is i still think thats absolutely ridiculous because now you have people like the lady who posted about her doctor calling her bigger yorkie not a yorkie thinking their dogs aren't yorkies just because they are bigger! See, even the breed itself sheds light on smaller yorkies...

| ![]() No because if you look further on the the site and look where it lists the standard for everything like height, coat and so on it says weight not to exceed 7 pounds.

| ![]() People have breed yorkies down smaller and people want a purse puppy and a fashion accessory more then a "rater" and that is true but there are many people who love the yorkies attitude and everything and would love for there to be more 15 pounders so they can fit in better with familys.

| ![]() I never said NO ONE wants larger Yorkies my point is the whole reason back hard breeding even started is because smaller Yorkies were obviously in high demand. I apologize for hurting your feelings that wasn't my intention but it's obvious that the majority of uneducated yorkie desiring owners want smaller Yorkies.
