Jenna is like this when I go anywhere without her, even for a short while. I think the general fear of me not coming back must scare her and she uses a lot of energy actually worrying. Sounds like I'm anthropomorphising, but she truly gets worn out when staying home when I leave.
I'm sorry to hear you were in hospital. I will keep you in my prayers that everything will turn out okay.
Please give dear Tibbe a snuggle from us. Jenna is housetrained to a fault as well, there have been some seriously cold nights here that I would give anything if she'd at least use a puppy pad, but she insisted on going outside.

Jeanie! I came "this" close to sending you a message earlier today because I had a feeling something was "off."

I'm so happy Tibbe is ok. How are YOU? I pray YOU are ok! <3

Tibbe's food bowl was filled to a week's supply and he had 7 days worth of water and enough pee pads for two Great Danes but still, he was all alone. I couldn't find anybody after I got admitted that was still in town. Had the hospital only let me know on the phone I was coming in for more than just a test, I would have taken him to the pet hotel at least but all the charge nurse said is we need you here within the hour - shall we send an ambulance? So I took off immediately thinking the people doing the test I needed were about to leave for the holiday or something. What she meant was, we need you on antibiotics now. I barely got into a gown and they were hooking me up to 3 IV meds and giving me hip injections and medicine under my tongue for nausea and some awful pain shot that knocked me clean out, just like anesthesia! But once they got tired enough hearing about Tibbe alone, they sent me home with bottles of medicine, 2 of them antibiotics and I have to see the doc Wednesday and have more blood and tests. But even big Baylor Hospital gave Tibbe a break and let me come home to him, despite the frowns and groans of both my docs. Turns out the infection they expected really apparently never got a start as of this afternoon's blood tests and I'm not petri-ing anything presently so we'll see Wednesday. So Tibbe had a world of food and water - anytime I leave he's left with that much food and water just in case I have a wreck or something but boy, had I known I'd be staying, he'd have gone to the hotel as everybody was taking off this weekend. As it was, somehow God was with and he was safe. His doggie steps were moved over to one side off from the couch and that gave me a heart attack to see those! He could have fallen down between them but athlete that he is, he cleared the gap. Course he could have pushed them over celebrating when he heard me drive up today. When he gets happy, he rushes at them and pushes into them at times and he's such a strong-bodied little thing, they move! Thankfully, both of us are doing well and he's safe! But all I could see in the hospital when I shut my eyes was that funny little face here all alone.

I am very happy that you and Tibbe are both ok. He was a little trooper while you were gone. I so wish they could talk at times like these cause it would help so much. Mommy has raised a good little boy.

Jenna, too, does that? Amazing. It's like Tibbe can barely stay awake once I get home. He acts like he's so tired! I wonder if he and Jenna just stay awake and watch for us while we are gone and then just fall out when we do come home? If he was awake, bless his heard, he barely ate or drank. Hardly no food or water is gone from all those bowls! And one tiny spot of pee in 36 hours time gone. I know he didn't or I would smell it. No one piece of potty. How in the world could he hold it like that? And why did he? Why won't he and Jenna use puppy pads? Jilly would use them either until she got quite old and then she would leave this tiny puddle on one sometimes. Boy, these little things are so headstrong when they get something in their head!

Awww sweetie, I'm sorry...this is a good reminder for the rest of us to take note of the the lesson you learned tonight....We all need to have emergency plans for incase of an emergency event.

Don't feel guilty, poor baby may have peed and it dried up...you know I love my Tibbe, but I honestly think he did just fine under the circumstances and being home alone for a day or so, while it is long...is not the end of the world....you did what you had to do Tibbe Mommie...all is well and that's all that matters.

Oh my goodness Jeanie, have just seen this...I hope and pray that you're feeling a little better now?

Harry's the same as well....he won't drink a drop of water, or go anywhere near his food when we're not at home. He doesn't pee or poop - I think he just 'stands guard' 'til one of us is back home - nothing moves, his toys are still in the same place.....but he's EXHAUSTED!!!

A great big hug to BOTH of you and love from Aunty Sally + Prince Harry! xx

oh poor Jeannie..I hope you are feeling much better and it is nothing serious. I know we worry more about our fur babies than ourselves but Tibbe knows you do the best you can for him and show him so much love. I am sure he was worried about you too. We know our dogs can sense when we are not well. He probably sat and worried about you while you sat and worried about him. Glad you are both ok and hope you take care of yourself. I am sure Tibbe will be fine and more relaxed as well knowing his mommy is on the mend.

I don't know you personally, just through cyber world and reading your posts. But it is evident as I have read through your comments to others that you truly love your fur baby. Dogs can sense when their pet people are not feeling well. He is probably behaving that way because he is worried about your health. Take care of yourself so that you can be there for your baby. Sending prayers your way. Tibbe will be fine. How wonderful to have that loving companion there by your side when you need him most.

Jeanie, I'm glad the infection didn't "take hold" and that you are home. Sweet Tibbe is much better trained than my little peepee monster, but I know you were worried about him. This thread has given me pause...who would I call if something happened and dh was out of town? That is definitely something everyone needs to have planned. Hope you are feeling better!

Jeanie, I am just seeing your thread now. What an ordeal you have been through! Praying for your health. I cannot imagine having the police knocking on my door saying I needed to go back to the hospital.

I am very happy to hear Tibbe is okay. He must have missed you very much, and I understand how worried you must have been about him.

Glad you are back. .
