***I Feel So Guilty About Tibbe.*** I got ill and had to go to the ER with tummy troubles late Friday night, was there all night, tested, given IV's, etc., released and home by 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Went to bed and at 10:30 a.m. a policeman was banging on my front door. The hospital where I'd been released from had tried calling me, I slept through the call and they called the police to come get me and tell me to come back in. Well, I did and the ER charge nurse said the redundant reading of the CT scan showed there was a problem on the lower abdominal CT scan and to come for another test, coming in through their private ER entrance with valet parking in a covered parking garage. I did, got admitted to my surprise, due to the scan showing air in the bowel. I wasn't prepared, had only left extra water, food and pee pads out for Tibbe, left the radio and lights on. I had to stay last night, didn't get home until about 4:00 pm or so today. I was worried sick about Tibbe all the while as my son is out of town. I was so scared at what I'd find driving home - thinking what if his MVD acted up and he was sick, he fell off the couch and was hurt on the floor, a burglar had broken in and took him, the hotwater heater had burst overnight, etc., etc., etc. But he was okay! I was so happy to see his fuzzy little face in the front window when I drove up and zapped the garage door open. He was okay!!! Here's what make me so guilty. My little housebroken Tibbe had barely eaten or drunk anything while I was gone and there was one tiny wet place on a rug in the hallway! No potty or pee on his potty pads anywhere. This poor little guy held himself all that time and only pee'd once - the tiniest little damp spot you've ever seen! I tossed that rug and I've felt every carpeted and berugged area, the couches and the beds - all dry and none smell of urine. When I let him outside after getting home, the poor little guy peed for 21 seconds and then insisted on having some training and getting his kibble treats. He's now asleep on my lap. He hadn't chewed up anything or caused any kind of mess at all. Just waited for his mommie like the perfect little dog he is. But he's too perfect! I wish he'd go when I have to be gone for an emergency or something. And he was kind of cool at first - remote, didn't greet me like the wild Tasmanian Devil greeting of usual. He just acted kind of in shock. Finally after I was here about 20 minutes or so and he had fresh water, food and things, he greeted me and kissed me. Poor little Tibbe is housebroken far too well for his own good. Now I'm just waiting for a poop from him and I'll be happy. Bless his little heart - he was pretty traumatized or worried about my being gone so long he couldn't even greet me as normal. I'll forever feel like a scumbag for leaving him. |
Awwwww poor you and poor Tibbe. They really miss us when we are gone. I bet he is loving having you home now!! And I pray that you are ok! |
Aw! I'm sure he'll forgive you! So, are you okay now or what? (Other than feeling like you have traumatized your Tibbe) |
I am glad that Tibbe is ok. But I would like to suggest that you have an emergency plan in place just in case something like this happens again. I speak from experience on this. I know you ahve your son, but as you said he was out of town. Is there not anyone who can chack in on Tibbe in a situation like this?? I pray that you are OK??? |
Oh my! If the ER wasn't traumatic enough for you. I'm sure you were beside yourself with worry. So glad you are both alright!:) |
I bought an automatic warterer and an automatic feeder from PetCo....small ones that I can manage....the kibble one, I filled up and have it sitting on the utility room counter, and the water one, all I have to do is fill up the jug and turn it upside down on the bottom of the waterer....that way, if I ever have to flee from the house rapidly, all I have to do is just put the feeder and waterer down on the ground and at least they will have access to food and water! Mine are pretty well house broken, but I bow to Tibbee! Mine are not going to get uncomfortable, then they will pee/poop on their pads, but if the pad starts getting messy, THEY are not going to walk across that pee....!!!!! I am thrilled little Tibbe did so well alone....bless his little heart....he knew something was wrong with his momma, or he would STILL be pouting about it!! And I am praying you are doing well, feeling better.... |
Very scary for both of you. But shows how fast a emergency may arise. Glad Tibbie did okay and pray your okay as well |
Aww..what a good boy Tibbe is. His momma trained him so well. :) But are you alright, Jeannie? Do you have to follow up with your doctor this week? Praying you both have a peaceful and restful night. :) |
I hope you feel better, and I pray that you get well, Jeanie. You must have been so terrified about Tibbe. My husband refused to go to the hospital for three days with a bad kidney infection. It wasn't a smart move, but we were both so afraid to leave Ashley alone. We discovered after his hospitalization that her odd behavior was dementia, and we both thought she would not survive alone. She was tougher than we thought. I'm so glad that your special little Tibbe is okay, and I pray that you are, too. |
Sending prayers that you are feeling better. Tibbe was a good boy....poor you and poor Tibbe that must of been so hard on you both. God had his angels working overtime for you both. I am Glad you both are ok:) |
Awww Jeanie first of all, I'm happy to see that you're home and praying you're okay. My heart goes out to you because I know first hand how helpless you felt and how worrisome it can be for us to leave our babies during an emergency. My son or my BF stayed with Yazmin while I was hospitalized with my stroke but it didn't stop me from worrying about her constantly. It sounds like Tibbe was a little trooper while you were away. :) I'm so glad to see that you and Tibbe are back together this evening. ;) |
He's been asleep all evening - like he is soooo tired. Whenever I'm gone for a while during the day and come home, he sleeps and sleeps from the time I come home. I wonder why he's so tired when I get home after being away a while? Think he stays awake and watches the house or is stressed or what? Poor little guy. He's so dear. |

My oh my, what a stressful weekend. You must have been very tired to have slept through the hospital call, and scared to have the cops come by! Hope you are feeling better now after all the trauma. Tibbe is an angel to be such a good boy while left alone, but very worrying for you being gone for so long. Happy that all is well with Tibbe and that he has forgiven you for leaving him for a while. Stay well now and take it easy. Hugs. |
Hope your ok and I am glad Tibbe is ok. |
