Default Small Dogs Outside Alone

Another tragedy I've heard about nearby my home. I feel like the overprotective Mom of the neighborhood, but I am outraged about what happened to this dog that found a small spot in the fence "that wasn't there yesterday" and poor thing ran in front of car doing 30mph. on the street, the yelping and screaming from a block away sent me in my bare feet running, I've just finished washing the freaking blood off my hands so here I go:

Dear People,
Backyards are not safe for little dogs, doggie doors are not safe for little dogs to go in and out of either, I'm sorry they just aren't...disagree all you want but I warn you they are not safe.

Backyards are natural habitats and change daily, the fence you have up protecting your yard may be sound, but rabbits, raccoons, fox, squirrels live there too, they dig, they can and do dig holes that your small dog may just find and get out of....and die because of.

The other wildlife that can and do get in to your yards can and do harm small dogs every single freaking day and sometimes lead to death.

Passersby, birds etc., may drop something harmful in your yard and your little dog may and often do, find it and sometimes die from whatever was dropped.

Birds, hawks, crows, eagles etc., may fly over your yard and snatch one of your pups, they do it everyday and it sometimes leads to death. This happens daily too.

Trees, bushes fences poles etc., sometimes change and a sharp object is no place for your small dog to be around and they often are injured because of things like this and sometimes die. This happens daily too.

People, often times people steal, even in the country even if you live in the middle of nowhere, they steal your dog and sometimes you never see them again. Sometimes, utility people, strangers, Jehovah Witness' etc, open your gate and your pup gets out...sometimes they die. This happens daily too.

I can not for the life of me figure out why anyone would/do leave there small dogs outside alone, unattended to let tragedy strike, it often does and it happens daily.

Yes I know tragedy can strike in front of your face as well, but really why do so many gamble with their little dogs, it happens daily and it sometimes leads to death.

Yes I did yell at my neighbor, yes I am angry, yes I think people are stupid and no I'm not perfect either, but this poor weiner dog died because someone was too lazy to take him/her out. I had to help the poor dog because the owner was too busy yelling HELP ME, HELP ME, no you twit help your defenseless dog.

Lisa I am so freaking angry, she called the police on me...bwahahahaha, the cop looked at her, then me covered in blood and says really I think you should be thanking her and given the circumstances in the future you may want to listen too. He gave me a ride home. My big dogs even got in to problems in the yard, I can't fathom small dogs ever letting them roam in the yard...

arrrrggghhhhh, I'm having a Hot Toddy maybe I will stop shaking....

I'm absolutely heartbroken for that poor little guy, he was screaming a scream I never want to hear again, I had to climb under a car to get to him, omg, I am scarred for life, and now have a new cause, I'm sick of hearing and now seeing the stupid things people do cuz they are lazy pos'. Okay I better shut up.

My babies don't go out alone. We have fisher cats being spotted and they can easily kill a yorkie.

Very well said lynzy and every single example you have listed, is factual and they DO OCCUR!!! People, if you let your precious baby go outside, even for ONE MINUTE, unattended, and something happens, you must accept responsibility for the results, regardless of what it is. PLEASE, DO NOT DO THAT TO YOUR BABIES!!! They depend on YOU to have more sense than they do, so you MUST run interferance between them and all the dangers and evils and unfortunate or unplanned obsticles that lurk around and lure our babies frequently, to their deaths. Sometimes, we talk and preach and beg and hassle and irritate as we try to make people see the dangers in doing some things they do with their babies, and we STILL see every one of the bullets you listed above, happening, and stunned and confused and heartbroken owners, stand in shock and awe, not understanding what in the world could have possibly happened to THEIR baby....."but, I only stepped away for a minute or two....." That is all it takes..........DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BABY UNATTENDED!!!!

Some people should not have a dog, whats the point of having them and then letting them roam around your garden unattended,!
You are so right to vent about this.

I'm so, so sorry you had to go through this and that the poor pup died that way. P-Nut's a teapot, but 11lbs is still very small. There is no WAY we'd let him out alone, ever. He still tries to eat things, he's a danger to himself.

And good for law enforcement - backing you up and giving you a ride home

How terrible
There's a lot of small dogs around my house that are always out by themselves. I think I'm the only one around here that stays out with their dog. I even see certain little dogs roam regularly and the owners just act like it's normal......yeah it's sad though. But then again i've had toddlers roaming my yard before!

Ya know....some human beings....just don't earn the word human. I don't get it.

These little fur creatures are so dang precious, I can never understand it when people are so careless with them. And I don't mean truly naive people who will learn, I mean those who just don't care to learn ....or they've learned, but still just don't give a _____.

You were a hero to that doxie today! This makes cry. My sweet doxie died at 10 years old from heart disease. He was never out alone. Our shepherd is never out alone! Will the baby make it? Do you know???
