After this post, i'm done defending myself, reading complaints and worries. There were two breeders that wrote and said THEY could tell what size the puppy would weigh. An experienced breeder can. Too bad some people can't respect others and stay on topic. I'm done watching this thread.

I believe they said they can tell what size THEIR puppies will be that they have lineage on going back a dozen generations.

No guarantees on puppy weights is basically what we all seem to agree on. Puppy weight is the topic, right? Here in the USA and most European countries, we don't feed to achieve a certain weight we feed to nourish the frame they were born with.

I wish your puppy the very best in his precious little life.....may he grew to to the size he is suppose to be and live a long and healthy life.

As far as puppies go, one couldn't ask for more!

OP - Size is (mostly) predetermined, but not really so linear where a person can just predict infallibly. Even the very best breeders will tell you it's somewhat unethical to say that they can predict size for you. That doesn't mean if they discuss it theoretically, they're unethical...it just means that since they all know it's just a prediction, it means it could utterly be wrong since outliers will always change the game.

At the end of the day, weight only means something when it has to do with being overweight or underweight. Dog owners should just shoot for "right weight" and that's it.

If weight is causing you this much anxiety, it may be worthwhile to consider giving the puppy back to the breeder, and instead getting an adult who is at the weight that you are desiring.

Experienced breeder exhibitors can make great guesses on which of their pups will be show dogs, but they always say, "if the dog doesn't fall apart." (fall apart = develop in such a way that would not make a good show dog) There are no guarantees.

I agree with Ann that an adult dog would be a better choice for someone highly concerned with a specific weight.

I am making sure Galen eats 3 times a day. And he has food out all day long. I am trying to make sure he eats. I keep measuring his food to make sure he at least gets what he is suppose to. If I can get him to eat more, I am so excited.

Excellent idea...problem solved.....get an adult that fits into what you are wanting in your dog, rather than trying to make the dog fit into what YOU want, by hook or crook. That way, what you see is what you get, no charts, no guessing, no starvation diets.......

That is not true an experienced breeder can tell what there pups normally range but they can not for certain tell you a weight as a fact its just a guess.

I'm sorry but I don't understand your post. You are asking to hear from ONLY those who made the charts. There are probably one who didn't for every one who did. If you don't want to hear from those who didn't, how are you going to compare?
