Why does your dog's weight matter so much to you?

I think this thread is not an obsession but an attempt to see how many people's yorkie's actually follow the idea that at 12 weeks you can double...to get the yorkie's weight at adulthood. No obsession, just curiosity. I like research too pookybear!!

I can't add info because Princess Sophie is only 9 weeks old at this point.
Good luck I'd be interested in hearing if any yorkie has fit this pattern??

Hey before I bought Pooky-Bear I had a terrible case of obsession/compulsion to get him! lololol I couldn't cook, couldn't turn off the idea, dreamt about him so this is just the 1st week continuation, which for some like me, is normal to be curious about weights. And dumb me, I didn't ask the breeder, who went out of town for a dog show!! I think he's in Cuba! So asking here...I've rephrased this question in several different ways so some of this is already in another thread.

I promise Pooky will be a healthy weight. He was bought on purpose by a reputable breeder after I explained to him my physical situation. Then I got to wondering about different things and how it all works out. What spurred this thread was a response by a Yorkie named Faith from another thread running, who MADE the chart! I thought WOW! That's a first! So the inspiration for this thread came from Faith! I wondered how many other Yorkies out there, and there seems to be a LOT on this forum, actually MADE THE CHART! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/4132998-post20.html
So far, Faith seems to hold the crown!

And since we couldn't find anyone to post, we turned it into a free for all, lolol

Lol pookie be careful, a lot of these messages left on this thread appear to be a bit cutting. I dont understand why everyone on here jumped to conclusion that you were starving your dog. I understand your excitement about wanting to know anything and everything about your puppy. People on YT jump on their soapboxes too fast when they need to stop and think that your average dog owner is not going to join this forum, so the fact that you did, shows you are attempting to perfect something in regards to your relationship with YOUR dog.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with you having a preference in regards to how your dog looks. Humans have all sorts of preferences for their own appearances an that of others, wonder how dogs got exemption...

Humans have a little more control over how they look these little ones are what they are. Withholding food will make it unhealthy not just smaller. Mine both hit the chart almost exactly but even if they were 30lbs I would love them anyway. We got the idea about feeding because pookie posted in another thread that her vet said to feed him less and he would grow up smaller. I am sure she loves her dog and will do whats best for him. I feed mine special meals twice a day and they free graze the rest of the day. I think when they tend to overeat and get to heavy for their frame is when we give to many treats or the wrong types of food.

The OP has started multiple threads on the same subject.

Just fyi, people can phrase their responses however they like. If you start a thread, you can expect discussion - and it's not the sort of discussion where you can dictate what people say, how they say it, or what they shall refrain from. All members ARE WELCOME to post on this thread as they see fit.

Wow... My Guinness is my child and might I add a 12.8 lb fur-child that is solid muscle no fat.... Soooo with that being said maybe we should change this topic to immature and childish name calling because somebody is not getting their way and the answers they expect???

The best one was the 13 weeks thread... This one was a bomb but can't say I didn't try.
Still no answer on the father being within a pound larger than the mother results and the person that could answer my questions of how do you know must have fallen asleep back on the first page all you kids with muscular dogs, take the thead...converse with yourselves.

speaking of people...nutrition and food quality has so much to do with how people grow...I live near some of the most poverty you've ever seen. In the news this past week a baby died of malnutrition. It's heart breaking. But I'm looking at this from my back's point of view as well. I want him healthy but the smallest healthy weight he can be, which will be best for my back. If that's 6 pounds, it will be a challenge for me but not impossible. That is the highest I think he'd get but like the vet recommended, don't feed him a lot. I refuse to starve him, that's sick! But if he'd also be just as healthy at 4 pounds, than heck ya, I want to feed him in that direction. Right now, I'm feeding him according the Royal Canine chart for his weight category.
If your back is such a problem why did you not just get an adult that you know the size of? I can't help but think you are going to starve your pup sorry but your obsession points to that.....

You have had a couple of breeders on here tell you that you wont know the size for sure until the pup is fully grown therefor its gonna be the same with your breeder but he might not tell you the same thing but lie and say what you want to hear. Is that what you are looking for in all these posts what you want to hear?
