This is exact same gate that I have, very durable and were easy to install. I purchased two of them on eBay for approx. $30.00 each.

I bouth an extendable gate from our Petsmart. It can stretch across the living room, other room area and I can move it so I do not have to climb over it. I like this one and oh yes we have a two other gates to keep the yorkies out of the carpet area and only on the tile.

i had a cheap wooden one until i tried stepping over it and fell on it. lol needless to say the gate didn't make it lol

The only place I currently have a baby gate is at the top of the stairs from the deck to the backyard. Huey has never gone down these stairs nor has he ever tried since we put that gate up before we ever brought him home. Those stairs are very steep and regular deck stairs-open front and back. I woukd definitely use a baby gate at the top of the indoor hardwood stairs if Huey was on any activity restrictions or injured, because he runs down those so quickly (which scares me to death) cause half the time he is in such a hurry to see whatever he is going for outside the front door that he falls down the last couple of steps or jumps too far over the last 2 or 3 and hits the front door...dingbat....
When we first got him, we had one of those metal folding pens that that open up into a fence-like wall that we used to block off certain areas of the house as needed, like when he decided the leg of the dining room table made a good potty...we blocked off that room until he was retrained. Open floor plan-baby gates don't work so well.

OMG I love this gate! I think this one might be the winner.. Plus Lily (my maltese) is very tall, I've always thought she could jump over my current gate if she really wanted to.

I would like to thank everyone for their input, its great to see what type of gate everyone uses. I'm excited to get a walk-through gate and say goodbye to jumping/hopping over baby gate! I think my guests would be extremely happy as well, especially the ones who weren't used to going over the gate!

This is the one we have right now in the hallway leading to the laundry room. My 2 year old has a bad habit of eating the cat's kibble, so the gate went up to separate her from Tink's food, water, and litter box. Hubby bought one of the Evenflo gates after I fell over the plastic one. It broke after less than 2 months, so I'm still looking for a good option there.

I also need a 5 foot wide gate for the doorway from the living room to the kitchen. I want to get the extra panels for the IRIS ex-pen, and I can use those to block that doorway.

Yup, we have about 3 baby gate type thingys. They're wood w/ metal. I also use a few wire shelves (individual ones) to block certain areas. I like using them bc they're not so high, making them very easy to always step over. Very lightweight too. Plus, you can spray paint them to match your decor.

I have the walk thru gates ordered from Wal-mart on line by evenflow. I find the squeeze and push down action needed to open the gate a hassel with my arthritis. My Yorkies can not climb this gate, they could climb the one with little plastic holes.

LOL like Yorkiemom1, my house is really a house set up for dogs, gates, fences, easy to clean floors, walls, and furniture. I am not in the least sorry. I would rather spend my money on Vet costs,than on silk drapes and porcelain artifacts.

How close together are the slats? Could a tiny slip around the sides?

I too have many baby gates around my house, upstairs and dowstairs. I can still walk over them and the puppies are too small to go through them. I do have one fancier wood walk over adjustable width wood fence than i use in the nursery when the puppies are ready to go from puppy pens to the floor but not downstairs to the cold tile floor.

At the top of our staircase and on the lower level before the staircase turns for the final two stairs, my husband screwed in 2 feet tall and the width of the stair posts, plexiglass so no curious dogs or puppies can fall down to the next level or go straight into the living room from the staircase onto the table adjacent to the staircase.

The baby gates never worked well for me. They all had a step up for the puppy to climb on. Check out the walk through gates at your pet supply place. They may take more instillation but they are much more secure.

Ann that's a great idea. I currently have sections of the plastic play yard at the double door to my bedroom and then blocking one half of my bedroom so they can't get to the newly carpeted area. They have access to the walk in closet, the bed and half of the bedroom. The problem is I have to step over these and nearly kill myself every day. The shelves would work for my girls as they are not jumpers and would not even try to get over it. Do they come in various sizes, length wise?

Soon as I put a baby gate up, my zooey started climbing over it. Had a playpen and she climbed over that too. She's had free run of the house sice a pup. Can't keep her locked up. I figured she was safer free then climbing and jumping. Lol
