| Having a hard time adjusting to adding a second puppy This is my first post on the site I'm hoping to get some great advice! Let me star by saying I have a 1 year old Yorkie that has been such a easier and a breeze to train. We were so happy with her we decided to get another Yorkie puppy a year later from the same breeder and same parents. We have had our new puppy Lucy now for about a month. Since bringing her home my older Yorkie "Sophie" has changed completely. She will not come to me and will only sit with me if I have the puppy all she wants to do is play with the puppy. The puppy also only wants to play with Sophie. I am afraid I a loosing important bonding time with the new puppy as well as loosing the older Yorkie that used to be such a cuddle Yorkie. Any advice would be great I really don't want to give up!!!! |

| They are both puppies and want to play. My boys play with each other all day and evening and then at night when they are pooped, they both come for their mommy cuddles. You should be sooo thrilled they are bonding with each other also, some have the opposite reaction to a new pup and the poor owners end up having to rehome their new baby. Try to play WITH them when they are playing together. Get their attention with squeaky toys and play fetch with them, take them for walks together. It really is good they are getting a long so great, I wouldn't worry about their bond with you too much right now. They will come to cuddle when they are done playing and are tired. Congrats on the new pup! Post pics!

YT 2000 Club Member | I think this is normal behavior. Yorkies love to have playmates to socialize with especially if it is another yorkie. Teeka is 6 months and loves to play with her yorkie cousins! They will rough house for hours or until they tire. Then she seeks me out for cuddle time. I love that she is so sociable and happy to play with others. My first yorkie did not socialize with other dogs or people and she did not like any one but me to pick her up of hold her. She would growl at other dogs, too. So with Teeka, I have made every possible time to get her to socialize with other pups, people and even a bunny, who loves to play! They learn so much from playing with other pups! Give them time to bond with each other and they will always come a running when they want some snuggle time with their mom!

| I am really happy that they get along. The whole reason we wanted another one was that we felt it was good for our older one. I think one thing that was bothering me most was that the older yorkies whole personality has changed. But I will be patient in hope that over time things will just fall into place They are such a huge part of our family💕🐶💕 |

| Welcome and congratulations on your second addition! I don’t think Sophia’s behavior has changed, I think she has a little sister and all she wants to do is interact with her. It sounds like they are going to be great together! Give it some time and I am sure you will have both babies on your lap!!

I guess what do you mean her WHOLE personality has changed? If she went from cuddle with Mommy to playful ball of fur with the new pup, that is totally normal. She has a playmate, shes still a puppy herself really with a lot of energy if she's only a year old. Shes also coming into herself now as well and developing her own personality, so believe it or not, her new behavior sounds pretty normal and ok. I think you might need to interact with them together, or find something to do while they are playing and let them play. You are always home base for 2 tired babies!

| Gosh... I'm jealous! I wish Magnus and Zoey bonded like that. Both rather play with humans than each other... |

| We have a 5 yr.old. she is our Baby. We really want another but I prefer females. Baby was very jealous of the last new puppy we got but it was a male. We finally had to find him another home. She is not a social girl. Which is mostly our fault. She is very tiny, 3.2 lbs. We were always worried she could get hurt. I'm also very nervous about her changing and not accepting a new puppy. I so confused. Could also use some help on this subject. |

| You're lucky, my two jack russells are mostly curious and may come up to check on my baby girl but when she charges at them for play they back off >< lol The oldest one has the most interest in her and may come back and follow her some but I think they all are just unsure what to do with her ^^; Once my yorkie girl is old enough and got all her shots I plan to get her more socializing through some classes at petsmart.
