| My Decorative Pillows are not safe! Even though she has a perfectly good bed of her own, Roxie loves to sleep on our decorative throw pillows. We have gotten to the point where we have to replace the pillows every few months because she drools on them, they smell like dog, and she rips out the embroidery with her nails. For a while she had stopped because the pillows we had were fuzzy, but I didn't care for those myself, so I went back to nice, firm pillows that have embroidery. I try to dissuade her from doing it, by propping the pillows up straight, but she has developed a sneaky (but cute) way of taking care of that. Any tips, short of getting rid of the pillows altogether, that I could use to stop this behavior, or is it too late? http://youtu.be/gbp0sC14eG8

| That's cute! What a smart pup! She's looking for a warm, comfy bed to lay on and when she can't find one, she makes her own. My last yorkie, Chelsea, used to do that with my fabric pillows that were on the leather couches in my family room, at my old house. She hated laying on the leather....perhaps it feels too cold? I started putting a folded blanket on the couch, big enough for her to lay on, then she'd always lay on that & leave the pillows alone. If my son or daughter sat on one end of the couch, Chelsea would push her blanket over next to them, so she could lay on it by them.

| They are such smart dogs! My son caught Ziva doing the same thing! I made little beds for each end of the leather couchs but Ziva likes our pillows better! I have zippered covers from IKEA on them(so inexpensive I could not make them for the $) and able to wash often. |

| Maybe buy her a pillow of her own? I would suggest a nice soft dog bed but it sounds like she prefers pillows! I know they tend to like to use the same things we use. Maybe put a pillow just for her on the couch. One that can be easily replaced if she decides to much on it or drool. I had a queen size pillow on my bed for my injured knee to rest on. Gracie was sure it was made for her so now she lays on the pillow as she watches TV on a bed that is already extremely comfortable. |

| She has a bed (one that she won't let us replace, even though it is well worn). She does lay in her bed, but definitely prefers the pillows on the couch.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | We have several throws on our couch and Joey acts the same way with the fabric throws. She's not going to want to lie directly on the leather couch, it's not as warm as fabric, and they love to claw fabric as if making a bed in leaves. If I were you, I'd get a throw and put it on the arm of the couch and another one and put it on the seat and let her take her pick. You could put the pillows away for a few weeks until she get use to the throws, but I think she will prefer it. Joey uses both, but he only claws the throw and he can't really hurt it and it's easy to wash. Just be glad she's not chewing and scratching your couch!

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Find nice fleece throws. Kohls is having a sale on them this week 6.99. Get a few of them. Flod in a square on each end of the couch. I agree remove the pillows for now until she gets use to the blankets good luck. How can you be mad at that cutie lol

| I'm trying not to laugh here but she is really cute! Mine chew the tassels off my throw pillows. It drives me nuts! I figure when the tassels are gone they won't have any thing else to chew! . Good luck getting that cutie pie to stop.

| Maggie likes the throws better when they are sort of bunched up, not so much folded in a square. She likes it looser so,she can adjust it to her liking. Her favorite spots to lay during the day are her two beds, one on the ottoman in front of the window, the other in front of the full view storm door. At night she has her crate with a fleece throw on top of the dog bed inside. Maybe Roxie just needs more spaces of her "own". I do also think they like places with our scent, which might draw her to the pillows. Do you wash her often? Maggie gets a bath weekly and doesn't drool so even her dog beds don't really smell. I do wash her crate bedding every bath, sometimes I skip a week if it doesn't smell. If Roxie is sleeping overnight on the pillows I can see why they'd smell, but the occasional naps shouldn't make them too bad. I do hate that dog smell and will not let my house get it! If you have to, you can just throw the pillows in a big pillowcase for safekeeping during the times she is most likely to sleep on them. |

| Maybe she doesn't like the way the couch feels for her to sleep on. We got this and use it on the couch Plush Pet Cover with Bolster - Improvements Catalog

| Just watched the video. For sure she doesn't like the leather. Get her some throws or Pillows or more beds(oN the sofa). Mine likes soft cuddly places. The softer the pillow the better. |

| Great video. Yep she feels at home on the pillow. It makes a nice soft place to sleep. Short of finding her something else that she would prefer more, I'm not quite sure what you can do. |
