This was Clarion's response to our FB posts:

To Friends of Benji, I understand this is a very sentisive matter and there is nothing we would like more than to have Benji with his family right now. I can assure we are doing all we can to make this happen. We have conducted serveral searches on foot and by car. Have contact all local agencies and businesses in the Palm Parkway area and continue to send them updates and reminders to be on the lookout for Benji. We have filed police reports with the Orange County Sherriff's office and met with them again last night. Daily, we have contacted the local pet shelters to see if any new animals matching Benji's description have been found. As far as a staff member having Benji I do not believe this to be the case. Benji ran from the property and was pursued by several staff members until he ran into a heavily wooded area off Hotel property. I agree that charging for the pet fee was insentitive and was a complete oversight and human error on our part. This has been rectified and all hotel charges have been refunded to Benji's family. The Clarion has been a pet friendly hotel for over 25 years without prior incident. Although, I realize this not help nor comfort Benji's family I do want you to know we take our Pet Friendly status very seriously. Thank you all for your comments and concerns.

I'm glad to see they are responding, I'm just upset that this happened in the first place... I cannot imagine how Bengi's family is feeling... missing their family member

I know, I would be heartbroken as I imagine they are. How frustrating. I don't know if to believe them still, though.

Has anyone been searching in that "heavily wooded area"? I have a friend who's dog got out and was missing for a couple days and he was found in a nearby wooded area. He was terrified and afraid to come out. Someone reported seeing a dog fitting his description , so we got a group together and searched it, calling for him and finally found him, crouched and scared. Maybe Benji is still there. Can area YTrs search that area? Why did Clarion only chase until the "heavily wooded area"? Why did they stop there?

As to why they didn't search the wooded area, I doubt OP has a good answer to that one. You might get a direct answer from the hotel but I doubt it. Usually only someone dressed for hunting with insect repellent and with heavy clothing, hiking or heavy boots, machete's to cut underbrush, etc., will go into a heavily wooded area for a meaningful search - if the area is indeed heavily wooded without open trails, etc.

When I saw the" heavily wooded area" comment on their facebook I couldn't believe it!!! either they are lying about it or they just decided to hide it from me cause they never told me that!!! If we knew about that when we were there, hubby would just gotten in there and search!!! They told me they "couldn't keep up with him" but no heavily wooded area...
I'm so mad I can't express it in words... what if his collar got tangled and couldn't get out??? it's already been a week! :cry8

Find out where that area is. Make them be specific. Those of you on facebook call them on that. Where is this area??? If this is true, he could still be in there and alive! People could be looking there!!!

When I read your comment, I got sick to my stomach. You weren't told the specifics of where they searched and didn't search when you asked? Or did they just lie to you about it???????????????

They never told you that??!! WTH!!! I saw that so called comment on FB, so not impressed...why didn't they send someone in there to look...better why weren't you told of this so called 'heavily wooded area'?

Here's my issue they have not offered to pay for a reward or post missing fliers in ecery singke one pf their hotel lobbies.

Until they do that I'm mad. This could have happened to anyone of us.
When an elderly neighbor was inable to catch her dog who ran out her door we all put signs up for her (she couldn't walk to all the streets) she was as so many are on a fixed income and we all put in $25 towards a reward or impound fee.
IT WAS THE LEAST NEIGHBORS COULD DO FOR EACHOTHER!
Considering the situation Clarion a major corporation could do the same!


Our neighbors dog was found being fostered safe a few blocks away, the lady refused the reward and walked the dog home just wanting to see the reunion.
