2 dogs only...

When we lived in Omaha, they had a 3 dog limit. When we 'acquired' Meadow back from my oldest son's ex-girlfriend, we contacted the local humane society and discussed the situation with them and they told us about an advocacy license, which would allow us up to 5 dogs. We filled out an application and they had to come out and do a home inspection, checked where the dogs would be kept, fed and watered, checked our fenced yard, etc. Then we had to pay for the advocacy license, of course (I think it was something like $100 and had to be renewed every year). Then we were able to keep all our dogs and Meadow too. And since we were licensed for up to 5 dogs, we went ahead and got another puppy. LOL! Maybe you could check to see if they have something like that where you live.

My brother is at Jane and Bloor, the people above him have 5 dogs, someone complained to the city about them, that lives in the building but they still have 5.
My brother is a dog man so he could care less and he loves their dogs.
I thought it was three also.
But I can tell ya there aren't many areas in this city that qualify as a farm so all the BYB's I've seen at woofstock with their poor bedraggled over bred yorkies, seem to have no problem disregarding the law.

I hope this could be an option for you, you'd think they'd respect the ones who actually licence their dogs?

Don't bother paying an attorney. Just notify the EPA! They will get them for crop devastation as well as for feeding hummingbirds that sugary substance!

Oh my that is awful, so glad I live in the country so I don't have such laws. I hope you find a solution.

Excellent point!! I forgot about the unhealthy sugary substance....NEVER MIND RED FOOD DYE # 36!!!!!!!!! THIS REQUIRES INVOLVMENT OF THE FDA, AS WELL???!!!

You guys crack me up...I can't stop laughing, you will see me on tv for feeding hummingbirds, birds and having 3 dogs total weight 15lbs. Crimeny they are blasted fools...

I've got a call in, I am meeting with someone tomorrow (thanks to a very close friend) to discuss this, thats how pffft off I am...I will keep you posted.

I sure hope there are no other surprises I need to know, I wonder if I'm allowed to sleep in on weekends???? wth? UGGGGGHHHHHHH

There are limits here but no one enforces the animal laws anyway. There is a lady 2 doors down that had 2 big pits and just turned them out in her un-fenced back yard and left them, sometimes for hours at a time. My next door neighbor got trapped in her house a couple times, and called Animal Control on her almost daily for like 3 years. It was completely ridiculous. The same guy owns both my next door neighbor's house and the chick with the dogs, eventually he took care of it :/

I feel like, here at least,the laws only hurt people that want to follow them. It just makes it look like they're doing something...

It all just varies - Alot of places where I grew up are actually doing away with limit laws, and instead getting stricter on nusance and care laws - Personally, I like that system better! You can have as many as you want, as long as your yard stays clean, the dogs are cared for, and you don't let them become a problem with your neighbors! Animal control has the right to inspect your property once a year, or if there's complaints, and if they find the animals aren't properly cared for, property smells, dogs are barking non stop, etc, then you're in trouble. I personally hate limit laws - But understand why they're needed, some people don't know when enough is enough, heck, some can't even take care of 1 or 2 dogs properly!

But back to the subject at hand - I know many breeders and owners that have done the rotation system and just don't let their dogs all out at once, but you may want to look into a kennel license or fanciers license (where I live now, you can get a fanciers permit if your dogs are all fixed, or you can prove you show your dogs). Sometimes there are ways to legally own more dogs.
