| ![]() I read all the posts. You know you have to take him and of course you are worried. Just make it as safe as you can. Ladyjane, lillymae and the others gave some good suggestions. Please keep us in the loop when you find out what is going on.

| ![]() Vet offices usually have a back entrance, and they might let you use that as well. I overheard someone talking about doing that at my vets when I was checking out.

| ![]() The Ortho office is less likely to have germs because the dogs are there for ortho issues, not illnesses. That is an option you should consider, and also ask to be the first appointment, and put down your blanket or spray....that should cover all the bases. Is he more susceptible to catching things because of the "blue" or were you just so scared from the Parvo? I do know my girl had some mucous stool issues and I chose to take a sample in before I take her in. Why expose her if it is a simple worm or something? I totally understand your concern. |

| ![]() Well, I made the little man an appointment for thursday... Even today...not one limp! Bevo did this about 2 years ago... My vet was talking surgery and we were planning on scheduling it, then BOOM he quit limping... He hasnt had any problems now for 2 years! Maybe Macky will do the same... By the way, Mack is doing absolutely AMAZING!!! He hasnt had any problems (besides this latest limp) since his bout with parvo.... He is such an amazing baby.. He is sooo sweet and cuddly and just wants to cuddle and make you happy... I have never owned a pup like him. I love him so very much and just hope and pray we can keep him healthy for a very long while!!!

| ![]() I would put your little guy in a carrier and keep him in it until he is in the room to be examined. You can spray down the table your self if need be. I do agree that and if surgery is needed that you would need an ortho specialist. Hopefully, it is not that extreme of a problem. Hope you get him in there soon. |

| ![]() I am a maniac about my babies catching diseases from the vet office....we sit in the car until they are ready to take us to a back room. We go from the car to the exam room, un crates, NOT walking on the diseased floor or out where all the adoring fans, with their own SICK dogs, want to pet and love on these adorable babies....in the exam room, I cover the table with a sheet from home, and a disposable pad on top of my sheet. I have all my OWN instruments and I throw a paper towel on the scale so they do not come in contact with the scale. They all wash hands in front of me and use the hand sanitizer (although I have my doubts hand sanitizer is effective)...when the exam is over, the dog goes back into the carrier, and goes to the car with my son. I bag up all the "contaminated" sheets, towels, anything I brought that goes home with me...these items are washed in hot water with bleach and double rinsed in Virkon. Any instruments I use on my dogs here at home are either wiped down with Cidex or soaked in Cidex. |

| ![]() Sad thing is my regular vet IS an hour away... I'm guessing the closest ortho would be Dallas or Oklahoma City... Both are 5 hours away.... Which I'd be willing to drive if need be

| ![]() Wow. I just have heard some terrible horror stories of LP surgery's that a regular vet had done and I would just not take the chance.

| ![]() Not stupidity at all....I start blurting out names I use and forget it comes thru hospital supply...Cidex is a soaking disinfectant we use at the hospital....some beauty shops that have their instruments soaking in solution, use Cidex for the soak.... Virkon is a dog safe powerful anti viral, anti fungal, anti about everything a dog can catch disinfectant that kennels use....Kills Parvo on contact, along with any other disease germ you have ever heard of...I order it on line..... |
