I am a maniac about my babies catching diseases from the vet office....we sit in the car until they are ready to take us to a back room. We go from the car to the exam room, un crates, NOT walking on the diseased floor or out where all the adoring fans, with their own SICK dogs, want to pet and love on these adorable babies....in the exam room, I cover the table with a sheet from home, and a disposable pad on top of my sheet. I have all my OWN instruments and I throw a paper towel on the scale so they do not come in contact with the scale. They all wash hands in front of me and use the hand sanitizer (although I have my doubts hand sanitizer is effective)...when the exam is over, the dog goes back into the carrier, and goes to the car with my son. I bag up all the "contaminated" sheets, towels, anything I brought that goes home with me...these items are washed in hot water with bleach and double rinsed in Virkon. Any instruments I use on my dogs here at home are either wiped down with Cidex or soaked in Cidex. |
