Astro hasn't come without his issues, most of which I'm quite sure stem from his stay with his breeder. He has major socialization issues. He's great with my other boy, but on his own, he is afraid of all dogs big and small, and all new people. He's also confused as to how to react to new people in his home (he goes from happy, to angry, to scared, to hiding in a corner). This has been a stark change from my other pup, who is my happy go lucky agility dog. I mistakenly had thought that I'd have a relatively clean slate to start with since he was only 7 months old when I got him. This idea was quickly squashed. He's getting better everyday though. Such a shame what a bad early life can do to such a sweet dog. Thank you all for the support and the comments. | |

| ![]() Someone who is that focused on whether it was a purebred yorkie would not adopt from rescue.

| ![]() And this is fine when you are purchasing from a breeder but rescue pups who come into rescue normally do not come from a breeder but off the streets, shelters & owner surrenders so why would you expect to get their full background and/or registration papers ? |

| ![]() It's not that I'd "expect to get" the "full background and/or registration papers" on every dog at a rescue, given the conditions under which some are surrendered. But, I thought that if they were available, it may enhance the changes of the dog being adopted, especially a puppy, as many mixes look like yorkies as puppies but do not as adults.

| ![]() I also want to point out that a Reputable breeder would never allow their pups to go to rescue as most stipulate in their contract that if the pup doesn't work out for any reason the pup will go back to the breeder. |
