So no it's not a matter of curiosity, it IS a matter of ethics. I personally would not want to purchase a pup from a breeder who cares so little about their pups as to give/sell them to a rescue. Kind of bass akwards if you ask me.
My tone my statement of "I'm sure the breeder would rather not be known for having puppies end up in rescues as breeder surrenders" came off incorrectly. I meant it differently than it is read. Perhaps I was also giving too much credit to bad breeders, too. So, truly, my bad. I'm lucky enough to have a great support group of many fantastic and knowledgeable breeders that I sometimes forget that there are many breeders there that are the complete opposite.

Astro hasn't come without his issues, most of which I'm quite sure stem from his stay with his breeder. He has major socialization issues. He's great with my other boy, but on his own, he is afraid of all dogs big and small, and all new people. He's also confused as to how to react to new people in his home (he goes from happy, to angry, to scared, to hiding in a corner). This has been a stark change from my other pup, who is my happy go lucky agility dog. I mistakenly had thought that I'd have a relatively clean slate to start with since he was only 7 months old when I got him. This idea was quickly squashed. He's getting better everyday though. Such a shame what a bad early life can do to such a sweet dog.

Thank you all for the support and the comments.
