| I live right at the base of the Wasatch Mountains. Quite a few times I've seen hawks in my area circling overhead. Because of this, I never leave my girls outside without me there. Generally, a hawk won't attack if there's a larger predator in the vicinity of what it perceives as prey. I got so nervous that I pee pad trained |

| You have to be careful when you have such prey surrounding you. |

YT Addict | Rylee Belle is totally pee pad trained unless I am right there with her when she is outside. We have had coyotes, hawks and owls in our yard and I am just too afraid to let her out on her own. I don't blame you for being nervous..............watch your baby like a "hawk"!

| I have a predator issue...hawks especially..I bought these owls from Ace hardware....I have them all over the yard, but you have to move them around ever 3-4 days or the hawks soon learn they are not a threat! I even ordered one that moves its head around....it is awsome! I still NEVER let my babies out into my secure, fenced back yard, unsupervised! |

| Oh no please be careful! We have coyotes, hawks, and owls too. It so scary. I never let mine out alone and keep them pretty close to the house.

| I know how you feel. I live down in a wooded area that is quite a distance from the road. We have several different predators including coyotes, hawks, owls, foxes and occasional bear and bob cats traveling through. If I had a fenced yard I could never let Gracie out in it anyway. I walk her only at certain times of day and I keep her right next to me. I never let her out ahead of me. She loves going out and I would not deprive her of the fun she has outside but it is a bother having to watch for those who might think she is a snack. |

Yorkie Yakker | We have hawks and owls around our house. Even with a large fenced in yard back yard I have an xpen, in the grass area by the pool. My husband put thick mesh over the top of it. This is for her potty area. When she is out for exercise I keep her on a short leash close to me. |

| ZoE & I walked my property last week as the weather has turned nice and the grass is starting to grow, so I thought I'd walk out back and make sure it was dry enough to mow and to check that no debris had blown into the back yard that might wreck my mower blades. I had ZoE on her 20 ft training leash. She was ahead of me and sniffing like crazy at something. I pulled her away from the area and as I walked closer, I saw that it was a small deer leg. Mostly just bone left...but the whole fricken leg! Coyotes. Some nights ZoE wakes me up because she hears them howling, so I know they are around...but it's totally different knowing that they've actually been in your backyard .

| I ALWAYS walk my fence line and just kind of scope out the yard befroe I allow my babies to join me in my back yard. My family has often accused me of being totally over the top with this....and I may be, but it has paid off on several occasions that I am AWARE or...when my neighbors hoodlum 18 year old son with a 6 page rap sheet, got angry when I called the police about him shooting at passing cars from his upstairs bedroom window (hopefully it was a BB gun!), so he threw fishing hooks over my fence into my yard for my babies to get caught up in....and there was the morning I walked around the side of the house to start my fenceline walk, and came nose to nose with a bob cat, resting on the top of my 8 foot wooden fence....I am happy I can realize the dangers as they have presented themselves, and I do not listen to ANYONE about "being over the top"!!! |

| With such small dogs, I don't think anyone can be over protective. Fortunately for us, we have enough country with an abundance of natural prey animals, that we don't hear of prey birds or coyotes hunting in back yards, but still concerning. (coyotes are a huge problem though for farm and barn cats. Many farms around here can't keep cats around due to bob cats, coyotes and birds) I was awakened the other night to an owl hooting close to my bedroom window. That was kind of an Oh ___! moment for me. Our owls are the huge ones and more freightening than the hawks.

| I have coyotes and hawks in my area, too. Because of this, I keep Tatiana inside the house, except on our daily walks and outings when she's kept on a leash or in a carrier. That's when I'm reasonably assured she's safe and secure. |
