| OMG!!! Take your baby and RUN!!! I am sure there are people on here that live close to your area, who can recommend a good vet for you. When you find another vet, for goodness sake, DO NOT LET HIM RE-VACCINATE YOUR BABY!!! Please look at that link AprilLove sent you on vaccinations....very important information. You may want to think about getting titers done before you re-vaccinate your baby next year....most of these vaccines are now shown to be effective for 3-7 years....check titers and you will see if he is still protected. |

| I am respectfully refraining from comment at this time...well, mostly! But, I must say it is so nice to see others in YT talking this way, linking to Shirley's Wellness Cafe, etc. There are lots of 'drums' I have been beating along these and other lines for so many years now, but I didn't say much so far here, and nothing about vaccinations. I am thrilled to see others are so well informed as well. Thank you...you have made my day!

| YT 2000 Club Member | Hmmm, well I'll ask doc about it tomorrow when I take Jazzie in. I'm wondering if it's cause we've spent litterally thousands on our furbabies with him through the years. He gives us breaks on prices here and there. Like for instance, when Mags was really young and landed in the ICU with IV's over night, he only charged me $12.50, I was floored!! I love our vet, he's a very good doc and really cares about the furkids.

| So I was curious and went to see if their were any sort of review under this Dakota Vet. So many other pet owner experienced similar as I. I checked Yelp review before and that looked fine 5 stars but only one owner. But this yahoo review shows everything about this place, as I am shocked with what I read on this review. |

| Wow, very expensive. Of course different areas of the country are going to vary in prices but the cost of the vaccinations alone sounds really out here. I am in maine not far from you , and it is only $18.00 for distemper & $15.00 for a rabies. If possible maybe look around for a different vet.... Good luck. |

| YT 2000 Club Member | I just got back from the vet with Jazzie and I asked Doc what anesthesia he used on her. It was isoflurane gas, and yep, it was only $10

| DEAR LORD!!!!!! All I can do is shake my head.....and then tell you to find another vet. I have a vet I had been dealing with for 6 years and then I moved 40 minutes away. So, I tried a vet in the burbs where I live - BIG mistake, complete rip-off!!!! I ended up going back to my old vet and driving the 40 minutes. They don't have a bbunch of fancy equipment, and all of the bells & whistles that the last vet I went to has, but man, they're not trying to rob me either. The "new" vet told me $400+ to get CoCo spayed when I know I paid $129 for Sparkle to get spayed!!!! You know they're expensive when they start talking about payment plans for your baby's shots! ![]() But I am going to have the humane soceity to get CoCo spayed. They do the spay, rabies shot, and microchip for $20, but you have to sign up for an appointment mkonths in advance, so CoCo is scheduled for May 18th. Check around for vets in your area - even if you have to drive a little. It's worth it when it comes to your baby AND your wallet! Check online for revies & references as well. Good Luck! |

| Those prices are the norm for Fairfield County. In Fairfield there is Community Vet Clinic on Fairfield Woods Rd. Drs Dana & Wendy are reasonable, most importantly, fantastic caregivers. I used them for urgent care and routine visits for several years and have to say in 35+ years of using different vets, they were truly the best. I only recently switched because I don't work in that area anymore. I'm in Milford. Good luck! Patti |

| Also- the Lyme vaccine is a 2 part vaccine. It is critical that they are done with the right timing, generally 2 weeks apart. So please don't skip the second shot. They shouldn't charge you AT ALL for that...You've already paid with the first shot and unless you present with a new/different issue there is no exam. You should be in and out quickly. The lyme is important in our area. I had one of our yorkies crippled with Lyme, so now our entire fleet gets the Lyme. Feel free to pm me with anyother local questions... Patti |

| I haven't read the entire thread but Pluto was just chipped, rabies, neutered and pulled teeth AND an X-ray to look at his liver (wich is very healthy sized thank god) for under $400 and I paid the extra $50 dollars for the iv. So yes I think you are being ripped off. I also don't live in "da country." |

| The first rabies shot is always only a 1 yr vaccine. Subsequently, they'll receive the 3 yr rabies. There are always clinics sponsored by various pet stores or towns that do the regular vaccines for a nominal $10. You could do your shots that way and save the vet for well visits and urgent care. I believe Milford Animal Hospital is participating in a state sponsored low fee spay/neuter program right now. They have an excellent team there, too. |

| Wow, very high and repetitive. For about that amount of money, you can fly round trip to FL, stay over night and have the furbaby neutered as well.

| Hi, I am in CT as well, I live in Trumbull and we just adopted our 1st dog Sheldon, he is a puppy mill rescue and got him ant 10 1/2 weeks. Our vet is in Trumbull and I really love her! I belong to a Trumbull mom's group and out of about 25 recommendations 20 were for her. She doesn't recommend giving a puppy specially this small 2 shots at once. She said if he did ok with the 1st distemper DHPP she could do distemper and rabies together. This is so far what we have spent Jan, 30th Puppy 1st check up to obtain health certificate required by the state. $55 February 14th $55 check up $26 fecal $27 DHPP #2 March 6th $55 check up $27 DHPP final puppy $25 Rabies (1 year) We also had to get deworming medicine, it was $7. I am supposed to go back for the lyme vaccine, (2 shots 3 or 4 weeks apart) she won't charge a visit then. I was still on the fence about getting this shot after reading how bad puppies react but we live in tick city here and today while brushing Sheldon I found one on his back. Good luck and I hope you find a good vet. Sounds like you are paying a lot. If you need my vet's info please let me know. Maggie Last edited by Sheldonsmom; 03-12-2012 at 06:32 PM. |

I am now using Bideawee in NYC and they are wonderful. We are subject to NYC Metro pricing; however, I don't like the padding of the bill each for each visit. | |
