| Help me convince bf we need another yorkie! YTers... I need your help! You all are so creative.... help me think of some convincing ways to get my boyfriend to say yes to another yorkie! Sophia really needs a brother/companion. Everytime I feel like he's about to yes... Sophia does something to make him say no (like growl at him... or need to go outside at that very moment lol)! Mike said no to Sophia at first.... but now she has him wrapped around her little paw! She sleeps on his side of the bed, follows him around, and even falls asleep on his belly! His rationale is that he doesn't want to go through the potty training again and enjoys getting a full nights sleep. I said we could get a boy who's a little older... maybe 4 or 5 months... and I even offered to pay for the little bugger... AND to take him out at nights I thought I was being generous.... he still said no. I wish Sophia could talk... he wouldn't say no to her!

| How old is Sophia? Getting a second will be a lot more work...but there are alot of benefits. You should look at this thread - Rachael and Sadie does a great job highlighting the pros and cons of 1 vs. two. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...-have-one.html Now onto having two. I think it is smart to get one that is the opposite sex and 4 or 5 months old. My Teddy turned a year old in December and in January we got Piper she was a little over 4 months. Opposite sex works great for us. Also, because she was older...she came very socialized. Teddy did not like her very much day 1 -3 but by day 4 they were best buddies and now only a month later they love cuddling. It took me a while to convince my fiance to get a second. But he now admits it was sooo worth it! They really tire each other out and they always have someone to play with Good Luck!!

| I wouidnt get the yorkie without his blessing. That causes trust issues in a relationship and can cause resentment. A little bartering never hurt though.

| I think it's better to get another dog when your first one is still fairly young. They adjust faster and they have each other for years to come. Personally, no boyfriend would tell me i couldn't have a dog but that's just me. I lived with a husband that told me what I could and could not do for many years. Then he decided what he wanted and it wasn't his family. If you can pay for the dog yourself and are determined to care for both of them yourself then it is your issue. If he is paying the majority of the bills then you have another issue. It is double the work to have two dogs but if you enjoy that sort of thing then it is worth it. If you are unsure of your future, like kids, where you will be living 5 years from now, etc I would wait until you are more settled. |

| My logic was 'how would you like to be the only human in a dog family?'. That said, it was tough the first week. They fought constantly! I did have a few 'what have I done!!' moments! I was in constant fear that Holly would hurt Hunny bc of the size difference. Turned out Hunny is the alpha! She bosses Holly around the house. They love to play now. So cute together!! |
