His parents have a lab, and Sophia just adores him. Her favorite place to go is petsmart and petco because she just loves the other dogs! One of the other problems I'm having trouble convincing him about is the time. We're both students. We have time to play with Sophia, it's just not always when she wants to play. So, I think it would be better if she had a companion to play with when we're not able to entertain her. But he said "Sarah, they won't always be playing with each other. Instead of me playing with one dog, I'd be playing with two!".
Ok - if this helps. Everyone thought we were nuts getting a second. My job is crazy right now because my boss is on maternity leave. On top of that we are in the middle of planning a wedding. Things will always come up! So technically, I really don't think any time is a "good time"...there can always be an excuse. With that said, I pasted the pros and cons from that thread to show my fiance and I think it was one of the things that convinced him. I started talking to a breeder and getting all the info before approaching him. Once the breeder started sending pictures and I had all the facts it was much easier to convince my fiance. Trust me...the first few weeks might be tough and Sophia will probably be jealous. But with you wanting the opposite sex I think you will be totally fine. Just give her extra TLC. Also, right now is the ideal time to get a second...you want to get another when they are young ... the transition is SO MUCH EASIER. Teddy and Piper ALWAYS play together. And playing with 1 vs. 2 is fine. If we aren't able to play with them its ok because they have each other. Let me know if you have any questions. Teddy was 11 months old when we got Piper and it worked out great for us. I am happy to help!
