Now onto having two. I think it is smart to get one that is the opposite sex and 4 or 5 months old. My Teddy turned a year old in December and in January we got Piper she was a little over 4 months. Opposite sex works great for us. Also, because she was older...she came very socialized. Teddy did not like her very much day 1 -3 but by day 4 they were best buddies and now only a month later they love cuddling. It took me a while to convince my fiance to get a second. But he now admits it was sooo worth it! They really tire each other out and they always have someone to play with

Sophia is 11 months. That's an excellent thread, thanks for linking me to it. It definitely mentions things that I didn't think about. She is SUCH a social butterfly. His parents have a lab, and Sophia just adores him. Her favorite place to go is petsmart and petco because she just loves the other dogs! One of the other problems I'm having trouble convincing him about is the time. We're both students. We have time to play with Sophia, it's just not always when she wants to play. So, I think it would be better if she had a companion to play with when we're not able to entertain her. But he said "Sarah, they won't always be playing with each other. Instead of me playing with one dog, I'd be playing with two!".
