I think it's better to get another dog when your first one is still fairly young. They adjust faster and they have each other for years to come.
Personally, no boyfriend would tell me i couldn't have a dog but that's just me. I lived with a husband that told me what I could and could not do for many years. Then he decided what he wanted and it wasn't his family.
If you can pay for the dog yourself and are determined to care for both of them yourself then it is your issue. If he is paying the majority of the bills then you have another issue. It is double the work to have two dogs but if you enjoy that sort of thing then it is worth it. If you are unsure of your future, like kids, where you will be living 5 years from now, etc I would wait until you are more settled. |
