| I also brought my Brandi home at about 6 1/2 weeks her mom wasn't wanting to take care of her anymore...so her human mom took care of her.....fortunately she was ok....I knew her mother and father (both just pets and not bought for breeding) the mom had two litters and Brandi was from her second litter...no more babies since.... |

| Pretty Name Rainey, very pretty name, is it Hawaiaan? How is she doing? Don't worry enjoy, I told I got BJ at 7 weeks because I was so upset I didn't check the papers until I got home later. The breeder told me she was 8 weeks but she found out she had cancer and had to get rid of a litter of Yorkies and a litter of Maltese. She was only 1lb 5 ozs. now she 13 weeks and weighs 2lbs. 5ozs. Great personality and so lovable. You can never know the true age of a puppy if they come from a breeder with many litters or a pet shop. I think you said it was a gift. Enjoy it and be sure and put pictures on for us. I haven't gotten BJ's on yet but I will soon. She needs a trim now but I hate to give up the little puppy look so i may just do her feet and ears for now, very little. Enjoy. |

| Rainey, did you take her to a vet for a checkup. That was required in both my yorkies to be done within 48 hrs. Then you could ask him any questions you have, and quit worrying so much and enjoy her. Did the breeder tell you what to she had been feeding her? Best not to change their diet right away anyway. |

| Congratulations on your new baby! What a pretty name you chose for her! I got my first yorkie at 7 1/2 weeks and she did okay and had no behavioral problems. It is great that you have your SIL to call on with any worries or concerns! Best wishes to you and your little Maiya!

| Update =) So I just wanted to update everyone on how our puppy Maiya is doing. It's been almost a week since we brought her home, which makes her ALMOST 8 weeks old. She makes 8 weeks on Sunday. She is adjusting very well. She's eating and drinking on her own, peeing and pooping on the pad (90% of the time), and she's a very happy playful puppy. |

| Just noticed this thread. Congratulations on your new pup. Hope she is eating well for you. My Gracie didn't want to eat any kibble when she was a puppy. She turned up her nose to everything. I ended up making food for her for several months. She liked that as long as I didn't put any grain in it. After doing a lot of trial and error and mega research I am now feeding her a raw commercial diet. She loves it and is so healthy! Of course there are medical concerns about taking a puppy home so young but the social issues are there also. Many people who get young puppies have problems with the pups mouthing and wanting to chew or be to rough with their humans. Basically the pups start to learn their manners from their mom. Puppies that don't get that training from the mom and litter mates are pretty clueless about play. Maybe look into how to deal with the mouthing and play issues. Try to get her around other healthy puppies once she has all her shots so she can learn some puppy social skills. Have any pictures yet? |

| it sounds like ur covered and i would just bring her the vet right away to be sure and get any advice from them that they have to offer. having a sister in law at your beck in call is awesome as well. good luck with your baby. i brought my cedric home earlier than 12 weeks...this was prior to even knowing anything about YT and he was fine. we just never left him alone at all. and took him to the vet right away and ive not had any major issues with him.
