| Info on Yorkies Hi, Our dog recently passed away due to inoperable tumor ( cancer) First I told mu husband I never wanted a another dog...now I am caving...and looking for another dog/puppy. I placed an ad on Craigslist and have had 2 replies..one for a Pommerian and one for a Yorkie. I know nothing about either breed and both breeds are actually smaller than we had planned on. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks, D |

I am very sorry to hear about your lost dog. It is very hard to lose our babies...I know. I also understand 'swearing' you'll never have/want another dog and finding out you were wrong! hee...hee I have known a few, but I have never been owned by a Pom...I have a friend who has one...but I have been owned by a Yorkie-Poo and two Yorkies, as well as other breeds and mixes, all rescues, or re-homed. I, of course, am very much in love with the breed. You will find lots of info here on YT, plus you can go to the AKC website, the YTCA website, and the APC website for info to see which breed fits your lifestyle best, which you think is right for you, and let your heart be your guide. AKC (American Kennel Club - Breeds) American Kennel Club - Breeds YTCA (Yorkshire Terrier Club of America) Yorkshire Terrier Club of America APC (American Pomeranian Club) americanpomeranianclub.org/ Good luck in your search!

| I am so sorry for your loss. The love of a dog is an amazing thing to have around so its great you have decided to get another one . I'm sorry but I would not go with people on craigslist. You might want to read about the yorkie here American Kennel Club - Yorkshire Terrier. Yorkies are small so when they get sick its pretty important they get vet care asap because they can go down hill so fast. If you decide on a yorkie please remember these things if you get a puppy from a breeder and not rescue a dog from a shelter. Make sure the puppy is not leaving its mother until 12 weeks, see where the puppies are raised, see where the parents are living, make sure the parents have been health tested, make sure that there is a health grantee, that they are AKC, dont go with a "breeder" who sells mixes, and please please please do not buy a puppy from a pet store because all dogs in pet stores are from puppy mills no matter what the pet stored tell you.

| Sorry to hear about your loss. My husband and I had a similar situation. I wasn't looking for my Yorkie when I found him, but I cannot understand how I ever lived without the little guy - yes he is 100% spoiled. My hubby at first wasn't really open to "such a small dog" but now he and Jack are best buddies. Good luck in your search!

| I am sorry about your dog, the loss of a pet is the loss of a family member. what type of dog did you have, did that type work for you. Don't put an add on Craig's list looking for a dog, you need to first decided what type of dog you are looking for, big, small, long or short hair, shedding or non shedding. What is your lifestyle, are you able to excersise a dog, do you have kids, do you work long hours, do you have a fenced yard, do you have time to train a puppy, after you think about all those things you will also need to think about how much you want to spend. If you buy a yorkie from a good breeder you might have to pay $1,000 or more. how about a pound puppy, or young adult dog. |
