| Scared of me Bambina is 4 months old and always scared of me. The reason she's scared of me because I would constantly wipe her tears because they smell. Now she keeps her distance from me and she would come to me when I call her. And when she knows Im going to get her she will hide under my bed making it harder for me to catch her. What should I do? |

| Oh is she playing hide and seek with you? Maybe she thinks you are playing games? Simon is 2 and still runs from me when I pull out the brush |

| I have had pups do that when they needed meds or got wise to grooming. Tempt her with a treat..hold her and give her lots of attention, but don't do anything unpleasant during these times. |

| Our Eskie, Fiona, is my husbands little gal and always at his side. He is also is the one that gives her baths between groomings. All we have to do is say the word 'bath' and she hides - usually behind me! LOL If she actually sees the White on White bottle that's it!! She goes out in the dog run and hides behind the air conditioning unit!! It's so funny because when we call her and she doesn't come-for whatever reason-we know to look there! She loves her food, but there isn't a treat out there that will get her to come out on her own! Little smartie!!

| I try to praise her with food. Everytime I give her food she would eat a pellet and then run away from me and then come back for another one. She is always scared. It's funny because she reminds me of a squirrel that we used to feed |

| You might want to up the value of the treats that you are giving her if you are just giving kibble. Joey gets miniscule pieces of cheese or whatever meat we have leftover when I need "high value" treats. I agree with the above advise. Call her to you using her name, give a treat and release. Repeat many, many times. If she doesn't come when you call her, begin the exercise when she is in the same room with you and can see the treat. Gradually extend the distance that you are calling her from. You might also halt the eye-wiping until she is a bit more comfortable with you. When you resume it, give a tasty treat when you are finished to make the process more tolerable to her. |

| Once again First Yorkie offers very good advice! The only thing you may also want to try is another form of name recognition that is also based on high value treats is just short one on one sessions where you get down more on your babies level and let her know you have a good treat...let her see it, smell it and then close you hand. She will remain focused on the hand with the treat. Raise it slightly over her head and then call her name. When she looks away from the treat and at you reward her immediately. This enforces the idea that when she hears her name good things happen and also teaches her to pay attention to you when you speak.

| Around her eyes is always wet so Im sure they are tears. Not to sound nasty but I smelled it on the tissue and i almost barfed. This morning I found out that she was eating her own poo and that was another reason why she always smelled bad even after wiping her tears. What to do now? My Eddy never had any of those problems. |

| Apparently - eating poop is a common problem with dogs. There are pills to help stop this disorder and some people have posted that they really do work. One of my dogs was constantly getting into the cat's litter box and doing the same thing. I no longer have a litter box --so that solved that problem. I have a pasture in the back with horses and you guessed it --horse manure -- let me tell you every dog I have ever owned has loved to roll in that. And, every dog any of my friends has ever brought over does the same thing. It sure isn't disgusting to them. They think it is just wonderful. I think keeping them away from it as much as possible helps and sternly and sharply telling them "NO NO NO " -- even jerking them away - helps also. But if you continue to have a problem - try the pills. It has always seem to me that they are more apt to eat the "poop" if it is in the house. If it's outside, they tend to leave it alone. It may be that they don't want it in the house (most dogs know they are in trouble if it is) - so eating it is a way to get rid of the evidence so to speak - or to keep a cleaner house. Good luck - I can empathize with you. Carol Jean |

| Bending over when you are standing is a threatening position seen from a dogs perspective. Go sit on the floor and then call her with the playfull cheerful voice. Or play with her toys and call her to come play with you... I hope the 2 of you find each other so she stops being afraid of you

| Thanks for all the advices. She is not so afraid of me anymore because I have stopped wipping her tears. I just found out that she only eats her poop if I feed her can food. So there will be alot of changes made. As for the barking she still continues to bark when I say No. The more I say No she thinks I dislike something and she will be angry. She does not understand that Im angry at her not at the noise that she was barking at. |

| I try to make bath day, wipe tears and eye buggers, brushing and touch-up clipping all at the same time. I usually have to capture each one for each item. Other than that, they know I am safe (except for occasional brushing). When I start giving baths, my dogs disappear until they are clean, then they stand in the bathroom with me pitying their siblings. They are so smart. For barking, I try to answer each incident. I find if I let it go it increases rapidly, but will come under control and lessen quickly when addressed. I say 'what is it?' 'OK- Enough.' Then I Shush them. Then I get the water bottle. Everyone is quiet after that. They usually thing the shush sound is water, but when they see the bottle, they know I mean business.
