Apparently - eating poop is a common problem with dogs. There are pills to help stop this disorder and some people have posted that they really do work.

One of my dogs was constantly getting into the cat's litter box and doing the same thing. I no longer have a litter box --so that solved that problem.

I have a pasture in the back with horses and you guessed it --horse manure -- let me tell you every dog I have ever owned has loved to roll in that. And, every dog any of my friends has ever brought over does the same thing. It sure isn't disgusting to them. They think it is just wonderful.

I think keeping them away from it as much as possible helps and sternly and sharply telling them "NO NO NO " -- even jerking them away - helps also.
But if you continue to have a problem - try the pills.

It has always seem to me that they are more apt to eat the "poop" if it is in the house. If it's outside, they tend to leave it alone. It may be that they don't want it in the house (most dogs know they are in trouble if it is) - so eating it is a way to get rid of the evidence so to speak - or to keep a cleaner house.

Good luck - I can empathize with you. Carol Jean
