| ![]() Thanks. I may have to try that. Do you just put the gel on your finger and rub it on their teeth?

| ![]() Jackson was a toothbrush hater for a long time. It was such a struggle that I had basically given up and managed only to brush his teeth when he'd get in the bath tub every week or two. He had to have a dental in November due to another tooth issue (over-bite, had a vital pulpotomy on his canine tooth) so got them cleaned while under. They weren't terrible but did have some tarter build-up on all of his canine teeth. Anyways now they are shiny and white and perfect and I plan on keeping them that way and hopefully not needing for a long time/never needing another dental (at least that's my goal). So anyways, after the procedure on his mouth, we weren't allowed to brush for two weeks so I took advantage and every night for those 2 weeks, we would go into the bathroom. First couple of days, he'd just go in there and get a treat. Then I brought out the brush, introduced him to it, let him sniff, etc. Eventually he had started opening his mouth when he saw it. I would lift up his lip, get him used to me touching around his face, etc, and he'd get a treat. Now he's SOOO good at getting his teeth brushed. He comes into the bathroom with me every night, it's his little routine and he doesn't even put up a fuss (well, not too big anyways). I wouldn't say he enjoys it but he tolerates it and that's what is important! I bought CET beef flavored toothpaste which he seems to like and a CET finger toothbrush (which I find a bit easier to brush with). It just takes time and training just like anything else. ![]()

and Bear too! ♥ Donating Member | ![]() I use the beef flavored C.E.T. from my vet. The vet tech told my she saw a dog that died or almost died from the spray. I guess the owner gave it too much and it had alcohol in it.

What amazed me me was the before and after pictures..after 30 days..no stain or plaque..then when I used it..it was just like the pictures showed..and you use so very little at a time..even with 2 dogs...the level in the bottle has barely dropped..I give it an A++++.

How old does the yorkie need to be? Is it preventative as well as corrective? How often would you give to a puppy?

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() No alcohol in the gel or water aditive for the Tropiclean, I checked the ingrediants before I purchased it, plus their products are all natural which is one of the reasons I chose it.

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() Had to come back and correct this info. I did read on the ingredient list for the gel that it DOES have corn alcohol in it, so, I first called the CET Vribac company that makes the CET toothpaste I've used on Mags for years and asked them if it was in their product, they said it isn't. I asked them if they knew anything about alcohol or corn alcohol being toxic to dogs and she said it depends on the dosages and if they are a healthy dog or not. She said it's inevitable to make a lot of products that don't have alcohol in them because the distilling process itself makes the alcohol in many products. So, I got off the phone with them and called the Tropiclean company and asked them about alcohol or corn alcohol being toxic to dogs, she said the same thing the CET company said, it depends on the health of an animal and the amount of alcohol. If the animal has kidney or liver problems and is in bad health, it could hurt them. She said they don't add alcohol to the product though, it's a natural ingredient from the distilling process and that's the actual ingredient that gets rid of the germs in the dogs mouth and fights against gingervitis and also removes the tarter from the dogs teeth. So, I then got off the phone with them and called my vet to ask them if alcohol or corn alcohol is toxic to dogs. He's in surgery right now so I gave the secretary all the info and am waiting on a call back. I'll let ya know what I find out. If it's something that's going to hurt my furbabies, I'll take it back to the store. The water additive however doesn't have it in there, so I'll keep that. I did ask them at the CET Virbac company if they make a gel product and she said no, but the toothpaste could be used in the same way as a gel, that you don't have to use a toothbrush, but using one helps the process along faster, that it's the enzymes in this product that removes the tarter. So, I'll wait and see what I hear from my vet and let ya know.

| ![]() I have just started using petzlife on Teegy because even though I'm brushing I still noticed plaque. Another that's incredibly highly recommended is Leba II. Just spray on the dogs tongue, it's for severe issues. |

| ![]() We use Biotene Water Additive - from the vet So far it is working great and we have noticed a big difference. Our neighbor used the Tropiclean on her Chi/Pap mix but it didn't do much. Definitely much happier with the Biotene and we let them chew Greenies once per day. Their teeth are gradually getting better.
