I don't think age has anything to do with it. I was 17 whenever my boyfriend at the time, who is now my fiancee, bought me Ellie. He looked into reputable breeders around our area and found the perfect one for me and I have cared for her just as good as anyone who is older would and I am only 20 now. I think a lot of times people think that just because someone is young they can't properly care for anything. I have always been mature beyond my years, and Ellie is my "child" as well as Lilly Anne and I would never give my dogs up for anything. Just wanted to clear it up that it was because this girl didn't want to properly care for the dog not just because she was young. I have seen older people that were horrible at taking care of dogs as well.

The 17 year old girl wasn't the original buyer. She bought the dog off of the original buyer. I don't know why the first owner got rid of him.

The pup I bought from her over 3 years ago is the LEAST aggressive Yorkie I've ever had and I got her at 6 weeks. The Yorkie I got less than 3 years ago from a different breeder at 12 weeks is HIGHLY agressive. The puppy I JUST purchased from her on Sunday is exceptionally sweet. And guess what else? She didn't remember all the details of our first purchase either, and she was VERY interested in who would be around the pup and how old they were. I know many people who have purchased pups from Misty and I don't even think she offers any other breed of dog. And NO, just because someone doesn't want you to come to their home does not mean they are hiding something. I wouldn't want people coming to my house either. I do think Misty weans a tad early and all of her dogs are CKC, which I prefer because that means they haven't been inbred to hell and back like AKC dogs which cost 2 grand and are riddled with health problems when you can get a great female dog from Misty for $500.00. Also, my previous mail carrier is related to Misty, his name is Elliott and he is extremely nice. These are not bad people. Just because someone rescued a dog and never even spoke to Misty speaks volumes in the first place.

I did speak to Misty the day after I got my dog! She gave me every excuse under the sun as to why she couldn't even text me pictures of the parents for months! She was too busy to take pictures of her dogs with her cell phone and text them to me. Really??? He was only 5 months old when I got him and she wasn't even certain which of her litters he had come from or who bought him! I later found her on the internet selling other breeds of dogs. I think one was chihuahuas.

You do realize that the CKC will register anything that even looks remotely like a yorkie, right?

"The PAW Program was established by the Continental Kennel Club to apply for registration of a purebred dog for which the original registration records have been lost or the ancestry is undocumented. The PAW Program uses specific photographs of the applicant canine and the verification of witnesses to determine if the canine is eligible for registration with the Continental Kennel Club. The PAW Registration Application must be completed and submitted to apply for registration."

As for price...what pre-breeding tests and certifications did she obtain? Didn't think so.

If you had a great experience with her, fantastic. But others haven't and their stories are every bit as valid to get out to the public as yours.

Just my two cents. My breeder took videos and photos of all her dogs for her customers. I still watch them. She knows every owner and has an open line of communication for them to call. She also was available for boarding. All the dogs were microchipped and she had a medical file on everyone. She expected people to come to her home on order to get to know them and encouraged multiple visits. This way they not only got to know each other but they saw the environment the dogs were raised

A coffee table hahahaha are you serious. I had never heard of this continental registry until I heard on YT of unscrupulous breeders using it to confuse buyers

Same here! I have pictures of Elllie from when she was born all the way till we got her at 12 weeks. We also visited before hand and get to know the mom and the dad and her brothers and sister. She only lives like 30 minutes away and even to this day we still go and see her and let Ellie play with her mom and dad. I had all her medical files, all her papers, and I was also shown the medical files fro the mom and dad. Its nice to have all that information so you can know what to expect.

CKC is crap, (refer to coffee table comment) and AKC is dedicated to improving breed health and preserving the breed standards/characteristics with responsible breeders that perform genetic testing to PREVENT congenital defects. As for her cousin being your mail carrier, my mail carrier is my next door neighbor, and she is a psycho (and cat hoarder). I wouldn't consider that a good reference.

I'm referring to being accused of being Misty, lol.

Look, bottom line, Misty may sell Yorkies and Chihuahuas (I didn't know she did, but who cares), but that does not mean that her pups are not purebred or properly cared for. I have attached pics of the two babies I got from her, the little one I just got on Sunday and the adult I bought back in early 2010 which I got from Misty at 6 weeks, I DID have to bottle feed her, but I loved that experience and she is a great dog, so loving. You can't tell me that these dogs are not 100% Yorkie. Also, the argument about AKC being so superior is highly debated. Just do a quick Google search on how the AKC regulations are actually HARMING breeds. You can do all the genetic testing that you want, but inbreeding is WRONG and it happens all the time in AKC rings. As far as my mail carrier, Elliott was a very nice person and he spoke very highly of Misty as a person - I'm just giving some insight.
I am not saying that other's experiences are not valid, but this is coming from someone who bought a dog at a yard sale who Misty never met, never dealt with, etc. I on the other hand have dealt with her in the purchasing process TWICE. I don't know the whole story, maybe this person was hounding Misty (pun intended) or she felt that way. I have contacted Misty on several occasions with questions and she has ALWAYS been easy to work with. I honestly think it is unfair for members of this forum to call out a breeder by name and call her operation a puppy mill when the only thing they know is that the breeder didn't want to deal with a person who claimed to have a puppy she once sold to someone else.

Is there no wonder that the Sophie and Travis had such different experiences?!? Travis was there to BUY a pup....and then another. With Sophie, there was no exchange of money. Misty didn't make a dime off her If this person is in the business JUST to make money(aka a GREEDER), there was no financial benefit to helping Sophie...but I am sure she's a lot nicer to her customers who are about to drop some cash.


I betcha if Sophie called and asked to buy a pup, she'd meet a whole new Misty!!

I contacted Misty trying to find out what vaccines she had given while my dog was in her care. I gave her his birthdate and she wasn't even sure what litter he was from. I even had her CKC paperwork, which she signed, lol! I simply asked her about the size of the parents and what they looked like. I was hoping that she could at least text me a picture if them. I also was hoping to find out what shots he'd had since he left her care, assuming she knew who she sold the dog to in the first place. She certainly didn't follow the standards that quality breeders do IMO!
