I do agree it is pointless....to a point (no pun intended.

) At least when others read this thread they are more educated on how puppy millers use brokers to sell their puppies.

But yeah, we won't ever change everyone's opinions about puppy millers or brokers. So sad.

Actually, it is much easier to find children that are up for adoption. Within minutes, I can find many children in my area. The same cannot be said for puppies.

Of course. I'd rather use the power of the Internet to make sure that time and effort was being spent well. Why would I want to personally travel and seek out a few breeders when I could research hundreds from the Internet?

There is no reason breeders could not provide information like this online. A few pages up in this thread, you'll find a few links to websites that do have a lot of information about the breeders. While I know it's not possible to expect that all breeders will do this, it would be a great resource to have a directory that linked to websites of reputable breeders in the US.

Really though, it's not that anyone cannot go out and do this research. It's just that it doesn't make sense to make it such a tough task. Why was the phone invented? Who do we travel in cars? I am certainly capable of writing letters by hand and traveling by foot.

I am lost as to what it is you truly need/want from this thread. If you want to discuss the merits of shopping on line and how to create a website that can showcase reputable breeders and their pups; perhaps start a new thread.

If you want help in finding a puppy for yourself; then you have been given lots of very good directions and advise. It is up to you to take what you have received in this regard, because truly from what I have read, and what I know, there is nothing else, nowhere else I can suggest you go to start your search for your pup, that has not already been said.

Good luck in your search for your pup

And just what are the "cold hard facts"? Didn't you just find that site today? How would you know so much about them? I know you said you called them and they said they trust their photographers to inspect the breeders facilities...is that right? Seriously?

Never did answer my question about being affiliated with them, did you?

I don't know, I kinda see where he is coming from, I was wishing that same thing the whole time I'm searching but it never really bothered me. When something is that important to you, I.e. Not buying from a puppy mill or BYB, and finding exactly the dog you want, you will spend the time and energy to seek out, learn about, contact, and wait for that perfect breeder and perfect dog match.

It took a year and I am so glad I waited because now I am getting the dog that called to my heart from a wonderful breeder to boot!

I will say he is no where near my state and I am paying extra for that, but it is all worth it to me. I guess it makes sense that some things are more important to some than others but I'm glad I did it this way. A dog is seriosly part of the family...

The discussion in this thread revolves around the idea of being able to easily find reputable breeders online. It also discusses a few websites that sell puppies that are apparently from reputable breeders -- and the opinions of what people here at YT think about those websites.

I am not interested in creating websites -- I do that for a living. I'd much prefer that we try to uncover good resources for finding information about reputable breeders online.

Also to solve your actual problem, why don't you creat a breeder blog or referral list. You said yourself this searching thing is tedious and takes up time, and I have to say I do agree with you, and I am sure other educated folks who are trying to buy from good breeders agree.

Heck, you might have a great business idea on your hands. I am down to help

Because nothing compares to actually seeing the quality of the breeding stock in person. How a dog looks in a photo and how it looks in person can often be quite different. You get to see the actual build of the dogs, the way they move, their personality & temperament, you can actually put your hands on them and feel the structure under the coat and see the colour of the coat without "artistic" enhancements of photography than can often make a coat seem richer in colour than it actually is.

It seems there are short lists like this scattered in various corners of the Internet. What would be ideal is a resource that not only listed reputable breeders, but also showed the puppies they currently have and included a bio, "About Me" page or something to that effect.

Wouldn't it have been great to find your puppy after one month? There's nobody that would argue that taking an entire year was smarter. That's no fault of yours though. You had no choice because it's just that tought to find reputable breeders.

YorkieMan10, I have a question for you. Would you purchase a used vehicle from a dealer that you knew wasn't reputable ? I'm betting not. Why ? because you would most likely be purchasing a peace of junk for a whole lotta money. You would try your best to go to someone who you had at least heard was reputable. Buying a puppy is a bit the same a buying a car, if you check around & do your research the end result will make you a happy buyer.
If you don't have the time or desire to find the soundest pup that you can then when your pup gets sick because you purchased from a mill or byb , will you have the time or desire to save it's life ?
