Actually, it is much easier to find children that are up for adoption. Within minutes, I can find many children in my area. The same cannot be said for puppies.

Of course. I'd rather use the power of the Internet to make sure that time and effort was being spent well. Why would I want to personally travel and seek out a few breeders when I could research hundreds from the Internet?

There is no reason breeders could not provide information like this online. A few pages up in this thread, you'll find a few links to websites that do have a lot of information about the breeders. While I know it's not possible to expect that all breeders will do this, it would be a great resource to have a directory that linked to websites of reputable breeders in the US.

Really though, it's not that anyone cannot go out and do this research. It's just that it doesn't make sense to make it such a tough task. Why was the phone invented? Who do we travel in cars? I am certainly capable of writing letters by hand and traveling by foot.
