| Playpen I have a playpen question but didn't want to hijack jerryray's thread, so.... Currently we have this playpen for Ozzy: Amazon.com: Best Pet Folding Play Pen - Blue -... He does like it, and I like that it's easy to move around or take with us somewhere. BUT, the zippers are a nightmare to deal with, and he's slowly chewing his way out... either that or the thing is just coming apart on its own! Anyway, it may last a few more months but I'm considering buying the following pen: Amazon.com: Dog Playpen with Tray DWS-118: Pet... We need something with a bottom on it. Ozzy does not soil his playpen, but we keep it on carpet, so even the possibility of an accident in the pen makes me want a bottom on it. I like that the sides are a bit taller than usual, too. Anyone have one of these or tried one? Anyone have any comments on it? It's a lot of money, unlike the Best Pet one, which was only $34, so I don't want to buy it if it's not going to be good. If it's not good, can anyone recommend one that is similar?

| I have a Pet Gear play pen like the first one. It's great for traveling and I use it when visiting people. I'd only ever use it while she's in my sight (I would never leave her in it and go out somewhere), because 1). she can flip it on its side and use it like a hamster ball and 2). she is a hardcore chewer and could get through that mesh in seconds if she wanted. The second playpen looks like a large dog crate without a top. With ZoE being the climber that she is (her nickname is "wee mountain goat") I wouldn't trust anything without a top. But it depends on your pup. I got ZoE at 6 weeks old (I know REALLY young) and she was fine in a playpen for the first month, by 11 weeks old, she was scaling walls and nothing without a top could confine her. I have a friend that has the same problem with her Chihuahuas, so she just uses a really large crate as a playpen. It works for her as she never moves it from the room it's in, but not great if you need portability.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I don't use a playpen, but I've always pointed people to the one you have -- it's cheap, and that curved edge at top keeps climbers from escaping. That would be my only concern about the new one you're looking at. If you've got a climber, they might be able to get out. Otherwise, I like it! Too bad about those zippers! But at that price, I guess you get what you pay for. I'll be interested to see if anyone else has some good suggestions.

| The first one we have and Tilly goes crazy in it. It was half folded and upside down when I left her for 20 min in it!! She is a climber too so the 2nd wouldnt work for her. Keegan and Fufu stay in puppy play pens when we leave and they are perfect in then. The second I would love for them. Just depends on how your furbaby is what will and wont work.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | I just bought that first one. It came in the mail today actually. I hope it will last us a little bit. We are only planning to use it for travel. I was hoping Katie Scarlett could sleep in it while we are in the hotel. We are going home to Alabama and will spend 1 night in a room. We thought it would be easier to transport than her large crate that we have that is very heavy. We are taking the crate with us for my Mom's, but I hate to drag that out for the hotel. I am planning on test running it out in the coming weeks to see if Katie Scarlett likes it. She went in there today and sniffed around a bit. I hope she won't try to 'eat' her way out of it. LOL.

I don't think Oz is trying to escape. I think he's just bored and that's his way of saying "I don't wanna be here all by myself!!" I give him toys and lots of things to chew on, but he doesn't touch any of it when he's in the playpen while we're at work. He just sleeps or picks apart the playpen. Thankfully, Oz is not a climber or escape artist. He's 8 months old and we've been using the playpen for many months. He could jump out of it, but he hasn't figured that out.

| I use Sea Breeze Petite Pens (seabreezepetitepens.com) recommended by my breeder. We really love them. They are adjustable, come in different sizes, are portable, and can be ordered w a bottom or a top.

| I bought an Iris from Walmart when I adopted Tia. It's easy to move, lightweight, washable, and very durable. I initially put it against the wall, giving me more space. Now, I take it with me traveling and use it as gates to keep the girls out of certain areas. iris - Walmart.com |

| Attached is a picture of the playpen I use for Lilly. In one corner is one of her round beds, a blankie and her favorite stuffies. In another corner is her water bowl. Third corner is her food bowl. The bottom is lined with puppy pee pads for those "just in case" moments.
