I did a real quick google search for holiday jobs in Texas and a bunch came up. Not sure if you're in real rural area though, that would be tough but I bet UPS or FedEx is in the area?

I know it may sound bad but, I see a lot of people asking for money out in the streets. A friend of mine did this last year and scored almost 1500 bucks in 2 weeks! She was standing out in the city for 2 hours a day...crazy,.

The whole "panhandling" thing annoys me. I have a guy on my corner begging for money acting like he is a bum- he isn't, he has a cell phone a bike and he lives in this mobile home park- It really bothers me he is asking for money, taking money away from people that work hard! Yes i know it is their choice to give him money, but he makes people think he really needs it. People like that take advantage of good people! I called and reported him and after a month he was gone! I do not stand for that! I haven't a clue why you would give that idea to a person.

How about house cleaning? I have done this before in a pinch...the woman is my friend/relative...sort of...but sometimes she still needs me...she pays VERY well and it's quick cash...not taxed!

Since your sister is nice enought to pay for your trip. Maybe she could lend you the money for your baby and you could pay her back in payments.

This is a good idea as well, you know I have often thought of making up flyers to try and get maybe a couple of elderly people that need someone to drive them to appointments or groceries and such, and light house-keeping can be an added service.....hmmmm.....

Well, this I would not ask her and I will tell you why....one of my sisters that lives in Michigan is getting married in May which will take place in Hawaii, my mother who is 78 and on a fixed income will be traveling for the wedding and my sister is paying for not only her husband and herself but for my mothers trip as well. So I do not want to over load her with this situation as well, I mean I am already grateful that she is sending for me so I just could'nt ask her....lol

This is a great idea! There are many elderly people who can no longer drive but would love an opportunity to get out and run some errands with a little bit of help. I hope you have success with it- you may find you love it so much, it becomes a great little side job.

You know I have tossed this idea around for awhile and as luck would have it, I answered an email on Freecycle from a lady that needs someone to drive her to doctors appointments and to take her dogs to the vet. I am meeting with her tomorrow. She has stated that she is handicapped and her husband works long hours, she also mentioned that the pay is not much more over gas, in other words although she pays for the gas its not much more than that. It's worth a visit and a talk and who knows maybe we can work something out, and I would love to help her anyway. What do you guys think?

I think it sounds like a great idea. And, it might lead to other similar jobs.

Have you made a reservation for your pet with the airline yet? You pay at the ticket counter, so you could cancel it if you need to. They only allow a few pets each flight, so you really should make sure you have a spot saved for him.

Boy oh Boy, i was just reading the post on 'Oliver is Missing'....then the next post that Oliver was back, my heart was just pounding away as I could feel her desperation, which just scares me to death, the thought of leaving my Gizmo for 2 weeks while I travel to Michigan is just not gonna happen. I just could not enjoy myself...whew....just make me shiver to think about anything happening to my baby. Still working on it not giving up at all, as a matter of fact, I am also a singer and we just got a call today to do a singing engagement this weekend. Will keep you guys posted on this trip of mine...lol thanks for listening

Hi gang, just thought I would update tonight to kind of keep myself in positive mode and pick up some positive vibes from you guys. It really does help to come here and read thru post and talk about whats going on with our fur-kids. I have not gotten the money for my babies ticket yet but I am still hopeful. Have not begun to worry about it just yet because there is still time. I don't leave until the 21st. I did get a call from my singing groups lead member indicating that we may have some christmas carol performances coming up, (we have been singing at private engagements for the past 16+ yrs), so I am hopeful that something comes of that. In the meantime I continue to search for work and keep smiling.

Will post again as things change, and thanks so much for allowing me to vent here.

Maybe, if your family or friends give you Christmas gifts, you could let them know that you are needing money to get a ticket for your pup. That way instead of a gift, they could give you cash. And maybe give it to you a few days before Christmas, so you can have your pup travel with you. Just an idea. Hope it works out for ya!

I didn't read all the replies, BUT I thought dogs were free as long as they were small enough/kennel was airline approves and could fit under the seat? You can buy a seat for your dog on some airlines, but when I was going to fly with mine it was free if she could fit under the seat. :/
