YT Addict | ![]() In my view its not about allowing the pet to travel free but here's the thing, I just do not think it is right to charge such a high price for my pet because after all, when purchasing a ticket that entitles me to to a carry on bag that should fit underneath the seat in front of me. So if my puppy is in a bag that can be carried on-board and fits underneath the seat in front of me, why am I paying an additional $200.00 as if I am occupying more space than the next passenger. I just do not think it is a fair price at all. I feel like if I am paying that much more money my pet should in fact have his own seat, in reality my own air fare was only $90.00 more than they want to charge for my pet. Its not right

I am saying that if they had no limit for # of dogs and did allow dogs to fly free as carry-on it would get very annoying for passengers, especially ones that did not have dogs. I have been on a flight before where someones dog howled and barked the whole time and it was rather bothersome. Then again, they let children on flights, and they can be pretty loud too ![]() | |

| ![]() I do agree that the dog should not be in place of a carry-on, I pay 200 dollars to take my dog with my, no complaints- but I shouldn't also have to then pay to check my luggage. I think since there is a small limit for pets and a huge fee, it should in no way affect your luggage restrictions as well.

YT Addict | ![]() I don't like this at all its just not fair to me however, its totally important to me to do all that I can to make this happen, if I am unable to pay for the trip for my Gizmo, I will not be going home for the holidays. As much as I want to see my family, I consider Gizmo my child and will not leave him behind. He is my responsibility, and I know that if we were seperated for those 2 weeks...geez it has never happened in the five years we have been together. And I know my Gizmo would be upset and depressed etc. I know all of you know our babies have feelings just like we do and some people that are not animal lovers don't understand this. So I am forgimg ahead to make it happen some how some way. Cynthia & Gizmo

| ![]() i hear ya on the needs money. we're having our first child and i'm not going back to work. plus two dogs and a big mortgage to pay. it's hard on everyone right now esp when you just can't seem to get hired. i don't have much advice, but wanted to say a quick prayer over your situation and that things will all look up for you soon. |

No Longer a Member | ![]() Southwest is the cheapest as far as flying with pets, only $75 each way...if you sister is going to pay for the ticket, maybe she could just give you gas money instead? It may be cheaper depending on how far you are going? |

| ![]() Wow!! I have read through the posts and there are some great ideas. The eBay thing sounds promising and the puppy sitting idea might work if you have the space. Since you have been on this site for awhile you might be able to offer help training people's pups, cheaper than a professional would. Since most people are feeling the financial crunch, affordable training would be nice. Perhaps even incorporate the training with the sitting lol. If it works out, you may not have to look for another job. Another thought is that since you live in Texas you might offer cheap English classes to help some Hispanic people who want to learn but can't afford schools. You don't need to speak Spanish, but you'll pick up a few Spanish words as you go. Lol. you can check at and put notices up at places where spanish speaking people frequent. At any rate it sounds like you are pulling it all together. I can feel your determination through the iPhone. Keep us posted please. |

YT Addict | ![]() You guys are just awesome, I really love the support and the multitude of ideas, just what I needed and why I posted. And yes I am bound and determined...lol...as for my sister she already purchased the ticket...you know how it is when you find a cheap flight...you have to get it right away before they go up, it was $290.00 to Michigan, which is why it upsets me so that its only $90.00 more than what they want to teavel with my pet. Just wrong I tell you...never the less gonna pay every penny of it if I get it...lol. ynthia & Gizmo

| ![]() Hi, good luck getting your Yorkie to Michigan. If you are interested I have a softside carrier I would more than happy to give you (I have a couple of them). Please PM me if you want it and I can send it to you. I was going to suggest EBay, I bet you will make the money in no time.

| ![]() Would it be cheaper to buy the pup a people seat, then you would be allowed 2 carry-ons, 1 for you and 1 for him!

YT Addict | ![]() You know this is a thought, I'm not sure if they would allow you to do that but you have a good point here and it may make them see just how silly that high price really is especially if the pet is not taking anymore space. This way he would be entitled to his own space.
