| I nicked Roxy's ear I feel terrible. I've only groomed her a handful of times but I do it because I feel like I will take better care of her. Fail. I pretty much started crying when it happened. I cleaned it and put some neosporin on it, she didn't make much of a fuss letting me mess with it. I wouldn't put her down for at least on hour and I've given her more treat than she's ever had at one time. She let out a yelp when it happened but it didn't seem to phase her much after that. Shes as happy as a clam right now going to town on a bullystick but I still feel bad so I'm confessing my sins to YT in hopes for some absolution. Roxy is probably going to have the hairiest ears from now on cause I will probably never attempt that again. Shes a tough little cookie but do you think this is something I would want to see a vet for?

| I don't feel brave enough to do any grooming myself, but don't beat yourself up. I remember cutting my skin babies fingernails when he was an infant and i nicked him - he survived it although I felt like a terrible mom. I personally don't think the vet is necessary unless the nick starts looking like it is getting infected or bothering her. She is just adorable, btw - so cute!

| Thanks TraciG .. I was thinking the same thing to let nature take its course and watch how it heals but I'm definitely going to keep a watchful eye on it. Quote:

| I always have my husband hold my girl for me during grooming, and work very very slowly so I can see if she's gonna twitch. I'd say groom your own girl just take your time.

| What were you using to trim the ear's?? When I used to do it, I used the small Wahl Clippers. I would never use scissors or a razor. I am sure she will be Ok. Just keep a watch on it that it doesn't get infected.

| Accidents do happen. I have nicked Rubin's butt. And once I clipped Noah's nail to the quick. I brushed Gracie's eye because she turned her head. I stepped on Ginny Joy's foot. I almost shut Abba in the closet and have dropped him in the clothes hamper (he was napping under dirty clothes.) I could go on. Over thirty years of having Yorkies and I have accidently hurt every one. We feel awful when it happens and they forget it, before we can finish saying we are sorry.Yorkies know if it is an accident.

| @TxVicki I use Whal clippers as well, I do need to get a smaller one though. @Teresa Ford heehe "dropped him in the clothes hamper" sounds cute! Thanks for the stories I feel a lot better. I've totally been babying her, but I think you're right.. I'm pretty sure shes forgotten all about it and is now just eating up all the extra love and attention.

| I'm sorry that really sucks. Did you use some peroxide and then make sure to use like some Neopsporin or another triple antibiotic ointment even after it scabs over to keep infection out (when she uses her hind nails to scratch she can reopen the scab and infection can get in). Keeping it clean works too but I prefer a good coating of the ointment just to ensure it stays covered and protected. I got those (OMY how embarrassing to admit) the men's nose hair trimmers the largest ones I could find, zip zoom up the back of the ears...I will never trust myself with scissors. I nicked princess with the little mini clipper designed to do side burns when she was a pup, she has never forgotten it either every time I get near her ears she hold very tense and leans back away from me, until last summer they only went to the groomers for ear trims etc. Again it's a scratch as long as it's tiny (doesn't need stitches, started to heal, you keep it clean and uninfected there's no reason to see a vet over it. Scoobers scratched his ear running past the rose bush here and it looked much worse than that.

| Don't feel so bad. She's already forgiven you. A long, long time ago I nicked Muffin's ear. She forgave me, too.
