| A brother for Maci :) Well Maci might be getting a big brother We go tomorrow to see how he and Maci interact. He weighs 50lbs so I want to make sure he is not too rowdy. We know the owner/dog so I know he has been raised around babies and smaller dogs and with a strong human pack leader so it's up to Maci tomorrow. If she seems to like him we will bring him home Mondday to start a trial run. The owner is giving him to us for free it one of those "had a baby, getting married, we have no time for him" situations which saddens me but at the same time may be the perfect fit for our family and I will be happy if it works out for us. Maci loves big dogs as long as they know how to play nice. She loves to run circles with them and stand on her hind legs paws above her head as to say "I'm a big dog too!" so I'm excited if this works. My husband really misses our last foster dog who was 70lbs and he is excited to meet this fella as well. So send us good thought, prayers, chants or whatever that this goes well so we can give this pup a good home! I'll post a pic later I'm on my itouch while DH hogs the laptop lol. ALSO just wondering for any of you that have a big dog with your yorkies how did you introduce them and how do they play/get along

| It went so well! I want my husband to meet him, so we're going to go over there again when he gets home. He loved Maci, she was being bashful. She laid down and totally ignored him as long as he was by her, as soon as he walked away from her she got up and stuck her booty in the air and barked and pounded on the ground for him w/her front paws, then when he would come back she'd laid back down. It was hilarious! He was very respectful of her size and space, and even though he REALLY wanted to play. He also was very cuddly and loves "butt" scratches just like Maci [right about the tail] I'm thinking this is gonna work! She has offered to keep him until we move if needed, so after the hubby meets him we will decide on Monday wether to take him now, or take him in February. Chances are we'll take him Monday and see how he does! Taking on a 50lb dog w/a 8lb one is a big decision and we want to make sure Maci know we still love her TONS but that we are allowed to love more than one dog :P She's pretty spoiled here and we wouldn't want her to think he's taking over.

| I would personally never have a dog that was big enough to kill Callie if he got mad or if his instincts took over. My mom had a 50 pound dog that was a mix and it moved cinder blocks (more then one of two) and then dug a large hole to get into the goat pin and kill one of the goats and hurt the other in less then an hour. Also I would never own a dog I could not completely control and I see a lot of that at petsmart and that's why Callie is never allowed to just walk around the store.

| I believe a bad dog is the result of irresponsible/ignorant ownership. I also believe a small dog is just as capable of getting mad and attacking as a big dog is. As a responsible owner Maci and D will never be left alone together. D has been raised by a strong pack leader and raised around 4 dogs That were all 10lbs and under as well as a newborn baby and I am experienced with pitbulls as I have fostered them in the past there's no situation that my dog should ever be allowed to become out of my control. The are leashed at all times and D is kept on leash at dog parks for the sake of being responsible and keeping aggressive dogs from testing him. Thanks Emmies mom we really love him and are excited for him to come home Monday!

| I agree to disagree. A dog that cannot be controlled and attacks/kills any living thing has a weak pack leader and should a) be released to a rescue/professional or b) put to sleep. I agree that there are dogs with issues, but those issues started for a reason wether it was a owner who loved the dog yet didnt spend time training, socializing, in classes etc or because they were neglected/abused. Mind you I'm a fan of Cesar and I know not everyone is. But I have been successful usi g his methods as a trainer and watching others use his methods so I believe any dog can potentially be an amazing dog. It's about being in control and controlling the environment.

| Like I said I would never leave them unsupervised at ANY time. And if this is a breed targeted discussion... Then that's too bad. I know mike from Alaska has a big lab with his two yorkies... No problems yet huh? I am sure there are others here with big breeds and small ones that live harmoniously Also like i said he has been raised with 4 small dogs since he was 6wks old. I would never bring a dog into my home if I thought he would kill either.
