| My boy is named Hepburn because I am a big Audrey Hepburn fan. I get a lot of grief when people find out he is a boy because they say Hepburn should be a girl's name, but I say if he were a girl, he would be called Audrey! I also like it because in German to make names cute (at least in Northern Germany) you take the first syllable of a name and add chen (like if you are a Sarah you would be called Särchen by your parents or boyfriend, for example). This makes Hepburn Hepchen, which is cute on its own as a nickname. It is made infinitely cuter by the fact that Häppchen (pronounced the same as Hepchen) means a morsel or a nibble in German and since he is small (just over 4 lbs) it fits! Of course I didn't discover Hepchen until about 6 months after he was named :-) |

| About five years back I had a student (I taught dance) whose middle name was McKenzie. I loved that name but, I knew I would never name my daughter that because It doesn't begin with a K (My name is Karmen, I want my girls to have K names). So when I began doing research for a dog I always knew I wanted a female dog named McKenzie. When I got her two years later the name fit her perfectly. Being my first dog, I never understood the connection to a dog before getting her. So after while she was just known as Kenzie (because in essence she is my first little girl). But she still gets called by her full name when she is in trouble. I have also nicknamed her Katters because of her cat like qualities. So most of the time she is Kenzie Katters. I changed the C to a K because everytime I tell someone my name is Karmen they write it with a C. So I have to say Karmen with a K. So when I started calling her Katters in order for her to not be teased by her pup friends about being called a cat. she can say Katters with a K. |

| Bella (YorkieX) and Sandy (Sheltie) both had their names when they came. So I didnt change them as they are older. Violet is rightfully named after my favorite color......Purple! I picked her out when she was just 4 days old. Her name was going to be Iris after one of my favorite flowers but DH wasnt having it!!

| We called our little girl AiZee because I usually spend the money and fly to Arizona every year. That year I spent my money on my little Yorkie instead of an airline ticket, so the abbreviation for Arizona is AZ, hence AiZee |

| When I first got Teaka she was so small, she fit in a Tea Cup. I wanted something short, snappy just like a Yorkie. I played around with Tika. But I thought that people would pronounce it Tick-a. Not very pretty sounding. Then I thought Teeka. Like a golf tee. That would work. So she was Teeka for about a week. A co-worker of mine was sending a gift to her and asked if this is how you spell her name T-e-a-k-a? I said no. The more I thought of it, the more I liked it. Plus T-e-a... Tea Cup. It fits!

| Our 2 yorkies came to us named Chloe and Andrew. I knew Chloe wouldn't work since we have a niece named that! So I asked our 4 yr old daughter their names and she said Lucy (who we call Lucy Lou and Lou-Lou) and Brait -b/c she loves when I braid her hair! Lol |

| I think this may be an old thread. but thought I would post anyway's. before I got my Yorkie I had the Beatles song Lucy in the Sky running thru my head for a couple of week's. Don't know why. I was gonna get a yorkie after my chihuahuas passed but they are only 4 year's old. Got to thinking I would be over 70 and didn't want to start with a new puppy at that age. That is how I got my yorkie now which her name is Luci Lou just changed the spelling of Lucy with a Y to an I Don't know why I called her middle name Lou. My one chihuahua's name is Cinnamon but she get's called Cinny. She came with that name when I got her. I registered her on her paper's as Tye Dyed Cinnamon. My other chiuhahas name is Peyton Paige just because I liked it. And then there was Tippy may she rest in peace. she went to rain bow bridge 3 year's ago. She got her name because she had a white tip on her tail. I didn't mean to write a book but that is how my pupster's got their names. Rest in peace Tippy Dog Mommy love's you, |
