What made you choose your Yorkies name?

Eddie was a rehome who was named Teddy, T.J. for short. Since my wife's ex went by T.J., she didn't want any reminders and went with something that rhymed with Teddy.

Jack was a rescue named Cuddles. He was tiny and frail and I knew I'd be teased if I introduced him as Cuddles to my male friends. In an attempt to disguise him as macho, I named him Jack after Jack Daniels. He later proved his mettle in the snow, so I renamed him Yukon Jack.

Jillie was named in memory of Jack, as in Jack and Jill. I was adamant about the tribute to Jack, but she was my wife's dog. She wanted Bijou, which I didn't like. We compromised on Jillian Bijou, and I'm supposed to be calling her Jillian.

Lucky Jenks who goes by just Jenks. I don't know what his name was before we got him my gram tried Lucky but he didn't respond at all and I like Jenks from Kim Harrison and her Rachel Morgan series. Ahi Shibi....husband is a boat fisherman(recreational) and for this year he didn't land his prize fish, a 100+ pound Ahi (tuna). Well I came home late one night when he was already home from fishing and he didn't catch one yet. I surprised him with a little furry baby girl. And he named her. Shibi with any fish name means the smaller of. So she is a small Ahi. Well Ahi has been a wealth of good luck for him. The next time he went fishing after we got Ahi he hooked a big 125lb. ahi. And he has done so several times after that.

We named our little Biewer Yorkie SPRITE because she was just so tiny and reminded me of a little elf or fairy. Thinking of the soft drink works too since she is bubbly and full of energy

This is such a neat thread! You were all very creative in naming your little dogs!

Paisley got her name just because I liked it. I had the name picked out for a few weeks before I ever got a puppy. I was actually looking at an English Springer Spaniel puppy but decided to get a smaller breed... which led me to looking at Cocker Spaniels, then Maltese and then Yorkies!

I love all dogs... so it was hard to decide. I'm very happy with my little Yorkie baby Paisley and so glad I chose her!

My Dachshund's name is Riley.. not sure why, just liked the name i guess.

My daughter Michelle's Chihuahua, who still lives here with me since daughter works everyday, is named Tedo (pronounced Tito) She was 8 years old when she got him and that's the way she wanted to spell it! Tedo will be 14 years old in Feb.

Lil Bit is our Basset Hound. My daughter Megan brought him home. She had dated a guy who owned his sire.. Drill Bit. This guy and his Dad owned a Oil drilling company and so that's where the name Drill Bit came from. This guy bred Drill Bit to a friend's dog and got a puppy back. He named him LiL Bit. When Lil Bit was about 4 months old, his owner got called to the Middle East for military duty and his folks agreed to take Drill Bit but since they're elderly and already had their own dog, they said he would have to find the pup (Lil bit) a home. He wasn't having any luck finding a home and had decided he might have to send Lil Bit to a shelter. He then called my daughter and she went and got Lil Bit ... and he's our's now!

We have a Norwegian Elkhound named Trixie. My husband has had two other N. Elkhounds named that... the first one was the dog he had as a child.

My husband's beagle is named Bullet. ...he's a rabbit dog. He's very old now but he was one of the best rabbit dogs in this part of the country! My husband has been offered as much as $3000 for him and turned it down.
Bullet has taught many pups to run rabbits!

I love that Jack's name used to be Cuddles. Totally think you should have kept it. All the more reason for me to be able to make fun of you.
