| ![]() When I was younger I never really knew this type of person existed. Then I got a job working with the public. Did I ever get my eyes opened! There is a culture of people that make up a large part of the population that have no values what so ever. It would scare me at times because they were not just low income people as some would expect. It goes through every economic and social group of our country. No morals or feeling for anyone but themselves. Just keep everything locked up really well people. If things get worse in this country you are going to see some things that you never thought possible. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() It seems like a lot of people my age seem to think a dog that's loose is fair game. They don't see it as stealing, they seem to think it was abused or mistreated, and therefore, if they want it they can keep it. I also know that some YT members seem to think they don't need to find the real owner of a dog when they find one. Lots of them seem to believe the pound will just kill it, so they can keep it. It's good to know that the younger generation sees this for what it is. In this case though, the women clearly knew it was stealing, and just didn't care. I can't believe she is so stupid to tell people that. I think the store owner should know what she tells people.

| ![]() I was telling my dh about this thread.. he got really upset. I guess her never thought about someone stealing one of our dogs. I have warned him to be careful, mostly with Remy! He thought the fact she was microchipped was protection.. but only if a honest person finds her. I have had arguments with some of my students about the finders keepers value system. A lot of them feel if they find something, like a phone, money, dog.... it is theirs. They would not take.. but finding is different in their minds. Of course finding could be in a situation that they could easly find the owner but they don't make that effort. Like someone finding a lost dog and not trying to find the owner. They change when they "lose" something. I think some feel that way about dogs too. Like Nancy said. Values are learned from the parents!

I agree, it starts with the parents. However, I see kids today at 5 years old dropping f-bombs and it makes me weep for the future.

| ![]() I was taught at a very early age to stop and think about what I am about to do or say and see if it is something I would want someone else to do or say to me. It may have made me a little too empathetic because I always think of how I would feel if I were in someone else's situation and I connect really closely. Yes, kids learn most of their values at home but their friends are a big influence as well. We have all seen kids who were taught well at home throw it all out the window when they get with a group of kids. These "flash mobs" that are taking place are a big eye opener to some but it is just a symptom of what is going on. |

Yorkie Yakker | ![]() To the woman behind the counter who tries to validate theft, Just because you would prefer your investments in fine clothes, cars, home entertainment or -gasp- some other guilty pleasure, you are not justified in your belief that thievery is acceptable when it comes to other's investments. Stealing is not only morally wrong, but it is against the law. Have a nice day

| ![]() That always drives my husband nuts when he sees a parent videotaping their child doing horrible things, thinking it's funny instead of correcting them.

| ![]() ![]() Because we love our yorkie so much, she is microchipped. If she were ever stolen, we would not give up searching for her, and would definitely press criminal charges against the person who stole our precious baby from us!!!! Hopefully that would have at least made her think before stealing other people's babies!!! The nerve of some people!!! ![]() ![]()

| ![]() I do believe it! Before we got Shield, we had just Emma. Our 69 pound mixed large dog. We were walking & my kids wanted a drink so I hooked Emma outside & we went in to grab a drink & come out. There was some kind of commotion outside while we were in line(weren't inside the store but maybe 3-5 min). A lady working at the store stood at the door on the outside watching these people. We came outside, the people were gone but the employee told me the lady in the truck was trying to convince the man with her to pick up the dog(OUR) dog & put her in the back of their truck!! So she stood there watching & told them to leave while we got our drinks. I couldn't believe it!! Emma is a mix dog & is only priceless to us! i have had her 11 yr & would be soo upset if something happened to her!! We live in a small town too so even more surprising. I have never & will never leave her outside again, that was only the 2nd time I had done it anyway. Last edited by caribear; 08-23-2011 at 01:29 PM. |

| ![]() There was a thing on the news a week or so ago about a pure bred Maltese pup that was taken out of a pet store. It was found later in dumpster. It would have ended up in a landfill if some people had not heard it crying. Sick, sick people. |
