Glenda isn't a member of YTCA. Since there are no AKC papers with this dog....well AKC will not step in.

How do you know Bella comes from good lines; because Glenda told you so....you don't have papers to proof it....let alone know for sure whether the sire and dam of you girl are who Glenda says they are.

Rest assured Glenda's dogs are not in deplorable conditions. But her ethics have been questioned in the past. You aren't the first person on YT that this has happened to. Newbies such as yourself, in a hurry, do get caught up easily by those that know how to talk the talk, but don't walk the walk. Just because a person has Championed many a dogs, one should still research the breeder. Ask questions. Next time, ask for the contract first. Don't buy over the internet.....A purchase such as this doesn't happen overnight. It took me a year and a half to get my first show dog from my breeder. Lots of talking back and forth and learning. Also, keep aware that your breeder will/should become your mentor.

A lesson learned as how not to do business. It so sad that there are those that will take advantage of those that are unsuspecting.

Oh PurpleKisses I am so sorry this has happened to you and it is understandable that you are stressed by all of it, but I can't help but think that Bella is in such a good place with you despite all of this. I hope all of this does not "color" you feelings for Bella.

I am naive like you say you were, but had such a great experience when I purchased my Cali -- the breeder insisted on a contract and talked with me frequently, wanted pictures of my house, yard, my previous Yorkie, and wanted references one of which was my vet - big difference from your experience. Then I had to come and get her face-to-face so the breeder could meet me.

Please hang in there with Bella - none of this is her doing or fault and I praise you for your willingness to make a home for her.

It really hurts when we can't trust one another.

I thought there was mention of her being a YTCA member on another thread. I could be wrong, it's been a long day. What am I missing on this dog? I thought she was represented as being AKC prior to the sale. If Glenda is falsely representing the dogs, then that does need to be reported whether this dog has papers or not.

i want you to know i asked for a contract before i paid for her, she said she didn't have one because she was at 1st only suppose to be a pet but that i could if i wanted to show her!! that i could have papers on her!!! and that she would send all paper work with her!!
then i talked to her about showing and maybe one day starting a breeding program .....after getting her and seeing how she was i called glenda and she then said breed her you can get that show dog that you wanted can start your breeding program with your line and that should make up for how bella was when she came to me!!! and then that is when she sent me a contract in e-mail today only saying that i have to get agreement with her to give full registration on any puppy i would have in future and that she gets one pick puppy out of the litter, i told her i didnt want to sign it because if i was to ever breed this dog i dont want her name on my papers and that i want control over my breeding program because i see how she handles her dogs and i would never do it how she has with me!!! also i didnt feel right sending her a puppy to live how bella had been raised for 7 months!! i told her just send me her papers and vet work and to follow through with what she said she would do and she keeps changing what she will do??? i don't know what to say or do nothing can make up for how Bella is and what she has went through and how me and my family feels or the work we have to put into her!!

i wish i had someone to mentor me and help me do what i have always dreamed of doing she told me that is what she wanted to do but i see that can't happen cause the teacher is suppose to be smarter then the student..... i know i would do things way different then she has. all my rescues went spay or neutered or with contract to do so and they had all they vet work in writing and i did interview with new owner and made sure they were happy with the dog and the dog was happy with them and sooooo much more too just to make a long story short red flags showed up after i paid for her i did feel bad for glenda alil because of some personal things she told me and thought maybe she was over whelmed and thought maybe we could help each other in a way i dont maybe i was blind and some of this is my fault i trusted her to much!!!

I'm sorry for the situation that you are in. But i'm glad that Bella is in a better place with you. Thank you for sharing your story as it may help other unsuspecting potential buyers...which there are a few right now that just signed up here looking for a Yorkie. I hope she gets what she deserves and maybe she gets kenneled herself.

Wow I just seen her pictures!! Poor little girl, she was in bad shape!! Thank goodness you have her now and are giving her the proper care. You are her angel. She has such a sweet face how can anyone not love her and want to give her only the best?!

I just can't imagine why someone would ever let their puppies get that way and then sell them like that?! There is no excuse for it.

I've always gone to the breeder's house to get my yorkies. I've driven quite a ways for a few of them. Buying over the internet can be so risky. Although I've heard stories of how it worked out great a few times but a majority of the time it ends badly.

I too at one time considered getting one from Glenda but I really have a hard time buying a puppy sight unseen and now I'm glad I didn't.

Well what is done is done and all you can do is learn from it and give Bella a wonderful life and show her what it is like to be loved and cared for. I'm sorry to say I wouldn't breed her as who knows what else Glenda might not have disclosed to you or been honest with you about.

Thanks for posting your story.

I have a very dear friend who is a master breeder with close to 40 years into her breeding program. She has Ch. more dogs than I can even count. She can give you lines back 10 generations or more out of her head. She is a breeder, owner handler. She has won BIG shows in Australia and Europe. I have seen her turn down 1000s of dollars for a pup. She knows her stuff! When I was thinking about breeding she gave me some good advice.

Get signed up with your state show schedules. You can find the right person on the AKC site. GO TO EVERY SHOW unless you are half dead. Go ALL day. Don't just go to breed, do group. Stay out of the way but spend as much time as possible watching grooming and prep.

Be prepared to spend more than you ever make.

Read this book over and over - my cover is mostly off. She bought it for me at a show we did in LA. Amazon.com: Born to Win, Breed to Succeed (Kennel...Amazon.com: Born to Win, Breed to Succeed (Kennel...
And before you ever mate, be able to honestly answer: Why will THIS breeding improve the stock for this breed. And if you don't have a specific answer, you should not be breeding

PS - laws for dogs go state to state. Check out your small claims court. If your Vet will give a report that the dog was not in acceptable sale condition you may have a case.
