| Mouse obsession driving us nuts! We just bought a very old house (65 yrs old) that we love and my 2 Yorkies are really enjoying it, too - esp the huge yard for them to run and play in. I saw one mouse in the basement about 2 wks after we moved in so I bought those plug-in sonar type pest repellers and put them in the basement. There was NO sign of mice on the main floor or up in the attic bedroom. Then about 10 days ago I found some mouse droppings in the main floor laundry room where we keep the pee pads set up. I brought one of those pest repellers up to the counter in there but hadn't plugged it in yet. The next day little ShyAnne was going frantic in the laundry room - sniffing under the washer and dryer, running around and whining like crazy. I thot "OMG! that ugly thing must be in here!" So I plugged the repeller in and sure enuf out ran a little mouse and dang near ran smack into ShyAnne. It went in under the attic stairwell. Ever since that day, ShyAnne will not stop investigating the laundry room and has even been up thru the nite whining and keeping us awake. Hubby is getting beyond patient as he is up at 5:30am for work. I moved the pee pad out of the laundry room, closed the door and she is still "standing guard" at the door all day long and during the nite. I've tried showing her that there is NO mouse, tried sending her to other rooms or outside but she has one mission and nothing seems to change her mind about it! She just whines and cries. How long will this go on for? Does anyone have any ideas of what more I can do to distract her? I vacuumed and washed down that whole room, of course, and b/c of ShyAnne's obsession, I even washed the floor again, but with bleach, in an effort to get rid of any possible mouse smell. I sure hope somebody has an idea! This is driving us nuts. It's in her breeding to be a mouse patroller but we are having a hard time being humorous about this - been over a week now. HELP, please!

| The mouse has to GO~ she will never stop! It's your sanity or that mouse. I'd get some traps. When there is one there is always more. We had the same problem and Pebbles would not stop until the mouse The little critter is still there and she will not stop until its gone.

| I hope it didn't leave babies behind! I know you said you cleaned out the room really good but is it possible to have the babies in/under the washer or dryer? Just let her investigate the heck out of the room untill she realizes that there is nothing in there. Just a thought. oh and better mice than rats...my cousin lived near a stream and the rats were huge!

| megansmomma and Ahis_Mama: Thanks for the replies. There are NO more mice in that room at all and no signs of mice activity anywhere at all in this house since we plugged in those sonar repellers! They work incredibly well!! Have you ever seen how they work? We even used them outside in other homes we lived in. We put one in each room of the main floor, up in the attic (finished room and the unfinished side), and 2 of the bigger ones (cover 500 sq ft each) in the basement. We have had traps in the basement since we moved in b/c it is an unfinished basement with cement floors and walls only. We also put those mouse bait traps down there, too and I saw the evidence of mouse activity finally stop. We moved the washer and dryer while I cleaned in the laundry room and I know there is no nest or babies in my appliances. Anyway, I need to hear what to do to distract ShyAnne. If we had a mouse in there (or anywhere else in this house) then Ginger would be going crazy, too. She is also a good mouse detector as she showed us at my sister's one time when she was only 2 yrs old. It's why we haven't let our 2 girls down in the basement since we moved in here and saw the mouse droppings down there. Thanks anyway. Your quick replies are appreciated.

| My babies went nuts when a mouse got on the porch. For days they sniffed every inch. I told my neighbor, and he said to get a fake mouse cat toy and put it somewhere on porch for them to find. My brother who trains sent dogs said to go to pet store that sells mice and ask for a paper towel to be put in with the mice, hopefully some will urinate on it. Wrap the sented paper towel around the fake mouse secure with a piece of thread. Then let them 'kill' the mouse. After they 'kill' it take it to the outside trash and let them see you throw it away.Be careful if you have more than one dog that they don't fight over the mouse. I didn't do any thing because after about 5 days they just stopped looking for the mouse. |

| Teresa Ford: Thankyou for such a great idea. I will do that this afternoon - I know a guy who owns a pet store here.
