Mouse obsession driving us nuts! We just bought a very old house (65 yrs old) that we love and my 2 Yorkies are really enjoying it, too - esp the huge yard for them to run and play in. I saw one mouse in the basement about 2 wks after we moved in so I bought those plug-in sonar type pest repellers and put them in the basement. There was NO sign of mice on the main floor or up in the attic bedroom.
Then about 10 days ago I found some mouse droppings in the main floor laundry room where we keep the pee pads set up. I brought one of those pest repellers up to the counter in there but hadn't plugged it in yet. The next day little ShyAnne was going frantic in the laundry room - sniffing under the washer and dryer, running around and whining like crazy. I thot "OMG! that ugly thing must be in here!" So I plugged the repeller in and sure enuf out ran a little mouse and dang near ran smack into ShyAnne. It went in under the attic stairwell.
Ever since that day, ShyAnne will not stop investigating the laundry room and has even been up thru the nite whining and keeping us awake. Hubby is getting beyond patient as he is up at 5:30am for work. I moved the pee pad out of the laundry room, closed the door and she is still "standing guard" at the door all day long and during the nite.
I've tried showing her that there is NO mouse, tried sending her to other rooms or outside but she has one mission and nothing seems to change her mind about it! She just whines and cries. How long will this go on for? Does anyone have any ideas of what more I can do to distract her?
I vacuumed and washed down that whole room, of course, and b/c of ShyAnne's obsession, I even washed the floor again, but with bleach, in an effort to get rid of any possible mouse smell.
I sure hope somebody has an idea! This is driving us nuts. It's in her breeding to be a mouse patroller but we are having a hard time being humorous about this - been over a week now. HELP, please!
