| Kicked out of my first store. Ok, so when we got Pierre, we decided that we wanted to bring him Everywhere with us so that he is socialized and friendly. We even thought out a well planned decision as to where we would eat when we go out, (outside places) I bought a Purse that looks like a regular purse only it has a holder to attach to his harness so he dosent jump out, it has a very comfortable bottom and two mesh sides to breathe and everything was going great, I have had him in Walmart, convenience stores, pretty much in and out stores. Until recently, we were out in a convenience store and when I stopped to chat with someone.....POP...out came Pierre' he wanted to socialize too! Well the store manager yelled at me and said NO DOGS allowed, so I had to go outside and wait for my husband....looks like we are just going to have to be alittle sneakier.....I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered leaving the store with your tail between your legs. Pierre' is very tiny right now so I am able to get away with it for the most part, we ll see how big he gets and how long I am able to hide him.

| I have been asked to leave stores before- I don't take mine in places where there is food or where it is specifically posted that no dogs are allowed. If it is a small store, I will usually ask someone when I first come in if it is okay if I walk around with my dog. If it is a large store where it is hard to find someone at all, I will just walk around and if asked to leave tell them I am sorry but I wasn't aware of their policy.

| I just read a post where someone pretty much said the same thing....Im always late. anyway the reason I like to bring him out also is on the weekends My husband and I are always out on the road getting lost or going somewhere just to get out of house. I don't like leaving Pierre home alone for so long, and why should we when he can come with us? I guess I will just have to stand outside stores that have food or where he is not allowed.

| You need to read the thread, Smarta$$ it has a lot of opinions about taking pets into stores. Very lengthy. Since I have 4 they stay home now, I use to take my first 2 to Petsmart.

| My plan came about AFTER being kicked out of a grocery store once with my tail squarely between my legs- LOL! I also like to take mine along with me- so yes, now, I try to just stand outside places with food and then switch with someone else if I need to go in as well. So I say continue to take your baby with you for your weekend rides!

| You should not take dogs where they are not welcome, and especially not where there is any food. Being more "sneaky"? That sounds really selfish and immature IMO.

| I hope this thread does not go where the other one went! That one turned out to be a "doozy" at times.

| Yea, I certainly did not want to open up a can of worms, I will have it deleted, and watch what I start from now on, I also stated on my last comment that I would stand outside where there is food, so sometimes reading ALL the posts will avoid any unwarrented comments

| I think we all go through stages... When I first got Remy I went into a grocery store I know.. I really did not know it was such a problem. *sigh* I got kick out.. as I should have been. Now.. we do take her out a lot. We eat at outdoor restaurants.. ones that are dog friendly. I don't take her into places that would cause a problem. Sometimes I ask, Hey.. I have my puppy in my bag, may I come in?.. most of the the time they say yes. When we go out I ask myself the question.... Is it the best thing for her to bring her? Would she be happier with me or to stay at home? I do what I think is best for her. Sometimes that is too leave her at home.

| I don't take Ellie anywhere where I know she isn't allowed. If they have open food, I automatically assume she isn't allowed. If they have a sign or policy on their website, I assume no. Anywhere else I really haven't tried but would more than likely ask first. I think it's the right thing to do out of respect for the business owner and other customers. I'd love taking Ellie everywhere with me and she would love to go, but I've resigned myself to the fact that that isn't possible. I don't like sneaking around. Just no reason for me to do that. Our one exception so far has been rest stops when traveling. We don't like to split up because of their relative danger and Ellie is sure as heck not staying in the car alone. This doesn't bother me so much though because it's done out of safety and the places generally aren't the cleanest anyway. It's not done just for convenience or because I feel like it.

| We recently tried to take Ozzy to Home Depot because I know they used to allow dogs there. Well, their policy has since changed, and the greeting lady told me they no longer allow dogs. It seemed like she was afraid I'd throw a fit, she was really apologizing, but all I said was "oh, ok, sorry", and I went to go wait in the car with Oz while my b/f did his shopping. I understand that your pups are important to you, but they are certainly not gonna die if you leave them at home once in a while.

| Pierre is home all week Monday thru Friday, so when I take him out its on the weekends, when we like to bring him with us...He knows all too well how to be alone.

| Honestly I don't like to take them anywhere with me. I mean I take them in the car for rides to pick up the kids or something, but that's it. I don't like to take them to petco or petsmart because I don't know what kind of dog is coming around the corner from the next aisle. There could be fleas or who knows what in there. I don't even put them down when I go to the vet. They stay in my arms. They really don't need to be in the pet store anyway. I think the smells in there just make them nuts. JMO
